Video review. Should have made a portable version for DS/PSP.

Man, the game looks great! Definitely making the purchase. I honestly don't care if it's just a re-make, I just want a Sonic game that pays homage to the originals. Thanks SEGA!

I just read the IGN review. It sounds like Sonic is making a come back!
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

I'm not impressed to be honest, and from the looks of it Sega won't be providing a demo because they know this will sell. The IGN review is weak and seems positive for the sake of it, but I reckon after so many bad reviews the editor just went all out to praise the game.

Again, as a DS/PSP game I wouldn't be so discerning, but screw the iPod version.

For whatever reason, I gave in and downloaded the iPhone version today. Extra levels and such got me interested. I'll post thoughts once I get some decent time with it.

Just finished the first zone on WiiWare. First of all, some facts:

3 acts per zone + 1 boss act
4 zones
Special stages are Sonic 1 style; if you have enough rings when you hit the finish flag a giant ring will be there. Jump into it to go into a Sonic 1 style stage. Only, instead of the rotation being automatic you control the rotation. To compensate you can't really do much in the way of jumping.

First boss is the first Sonic 1 boss, but with a twist. After enough hits he switches to a new attack pattern that's much harder to dodge. Also, so far the gameplay is classic Sonic, with several different pathes to go through the level. The homing attack is well implemented; a cursor goes over your target, and so far it's been used for platforming; a few different enemies would be in the way and you home in on each one. Also, it's used a few times as an "oh shit" move when you're flying through the air not in a spin (after a spring).

So far I've been quite happy with it.

I wonder if Episode 2 will use saves from Episode 1 in any way.

I'm hoping they do some lock on stuff with later episodes. Or maybe when they release the full thing on disc you'll be able to play as Tails and Knuckles in the whole game.

That would be awesome.

That would be more like a slap in the face.

I really hope they release the full thing on physical media (for the Wii or 3DS preferably), because I refuse to support the current business model.
