I just looked up Romeo and Juliet on Kindle Store , it is only 146 pages which proves my theory is that quality is not necessarly tied to length . Many of the modern artistic work, including games, kind of got the idea that it has to be long to reach that "epic status" including stuff like GodFather, GTA 5, A Song of Ice and Fire (831 pages-who has the patience to read that)... you get the idea.
