Old acquaintance of mine is into those -core subgenres and plays in a band (cover art pictures of corpses that have been spliced open etc). Not really sure what it's called (the genres are ridicolous, "porngrind", are you fucking kidding me?), but I know it's part of the grindcore cluster.

Hahaha, probably yeah. Don't forget squealing like a pig. That stuff is laughably bad, trying too hard to be as "technical" and BROOTAL as possible.

There is clear difference between stuff like Cannibal Corpse&Rotten Sound and those other genres. I dislike, but can somewhat tolerate, the former and hate the latter.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

There are musical differences between brutal death, slam, goregrind, pornogrind, etc, but it's probably not worth getting into that right now (and really, I can't remember the details off the top of my head at the moment anyway), but yeah I totally get what you mean.

Though, to be fair, I'll admit that sometimes I'll throw on that kind of stuff. It's occasionally good for some dumb fun, especially the really caveman sounding stuff.

I like Devourment but hate 99% of slam/gore shit. Stuff like Waking the Cadaver is a joke. Gimmicky bullshit.

Have never heard of "porngrind"... was never really into the whole "grind" subgenre at all really so I've never had much to say about it. Looked into porngrind just for kicks though, what the shitting fuck?

Is it sad that I already knew who this band was? They're pretty "big" in that sub-genre.

I would say everything I've heard that's specifically tagged as "pornogrind" is complete shit.

Now gore stuff is okay with me if it's silly and tongue-in-cheek like a B-list horror movie. Bands like Carcass, Cattle Decapitation, The County Medical Examiners, Exhumed, and Haemorrhage are awesome.

But the ultra gross porn-gore shit with misogynistic lyrics I just can't stand.

Anyway, the best grindcore bands out there are the crust-influenced political ones.

Yeah, Grindcore and its offshoots are interesting to say the least. The best part is the kind of fans who ONLY listen to that shit. I shit you not, I know a girl who has a "PORNOGRIND" trampstamp, and who really likes misogynistic shit. She's weird.

I'm not a huge fan of grindcore to begin with (technically the only "grindcore" band I listen to is Pig Destroyer), but these other genres......wtf? I can't get into that shit honestly.

Oh yeah and Waking the Cadaver sucks. There's a couple of joke videos based on the song "Chased Through The Woods By a Rapist". I viewed one and afterwards, I had a sudden urge for "Shredded Wheat". Why? I dunno....

I don't care for slam metal. Especially when mixed with that high tuned snare drum sound. Ugh. I'll take any snare drum sound over that. Even that 80's R&B snare that sounds like a thud when hit.

Oh and those vocals.......nope. Don't like 'em. In addition to the super low frog vocals, I also cannot stand the really high pitched whiny "wrah wrah wrah" vocals in some extreme bands. Like The Locust. Gah. Listening to that band for 20 seconds makes me want to punch people. Or punch them in particular.

Speaking of genres, anybody ever heard of "Power Violence"? That's one of the few genres I just don't get. At all.

Power Violence is out there, and it has a very heavy Hardcore punk influence. I've never really listened to much though.

Yes. It's awesome. Neanderthal, Crossed Out, Dropdead, Infest, No Comment, Capitalist Casualties... all that shit rules.

What don't you get about it?

Also, surprised there's not more grindcore fans here. There are some amazing grind bands out there. Maybe the state of modern grindcore is so shitty and people don't bother to check out the older bands?
