For a second there, I thought you meant James "Whitey" Bulger...

Why to film/TV/animation/video game studios hire actors of different ethnicity to play a role? (Japanese actor playing Chinese person, Australian playing British and ect.)

Is it that hard to find someone from the actual country?

Really Spanish man? So it doesn't sound stupid to you when you hear a "Spaniard" in a film speaking like an Argentinian (and not being able to say the "th" ).

EDIT

I know it doesn't matter, but it seems very stupid to the ones who can tell the difference, and really if you are hiring an extra, you might as well hire the correct extra  ...it's all I'm saying :P

Blu-Ray Rant
I have not moved up, DVD 480p is just fine with my HD CRT. I can see BluRay can be beneficial for a huge HD such as a 60" screen. I hate it when every DVD now has a preview of BluRay screaming its features played on a DVD. Are there really people out there that believe the videos are in BluRay resolution?

Disney is obviously pushing the BluRay format, there are even stickers on DVD cases emphasizing bonus content available on only the BluRay release. I rather have the extra features available on the DVD as well instead of a worthless extra such as only good for a year Digital Copy. Rango and Wreck It Ralph are two examples, the extra footage on BluRay can easily fit on a four hour DVD disc or even a second DVD disc as has been done in the past. :?

Many BluRay movies have an "enhanced" capability, bonus features STREAMED from the movie's online site. Unlike features pressed on the disc, that extra footage only has a limited run, will be taken down after a year or so.

Gotta love marketing, teasing one to buy the movie library all over again.

VHS to LASER to DVD to BLU-RAY to eventual not permanent owned STREAMING only

I think Bluray is going to fail or has failed because of bittorrent , streaming (netflix), and digital downloads like iTunes. Its just way more convenient and from what I have seen is cheaper. I like to own physical copies, but this is the hard truth . I wonder if music CDs are facing the same fate

"Failure" based on what metric?

It's enough of a success that it continues to survive and is still supported by every major studio. At Wal-Mart we recently gave the blu rays more shelf space, generally not the sign of a "dying" format.

And frankly, heavily compressed digital and streaming HD content doesn't really compare to what you see on blu ray.

The fact that Blu-Ray is still readily available after seven years on the market, and that save for animated kid's cartoons everything realesed on DVD is also made available on Blu-Ray, suggests the format is far from a failure. The only way it failed is that it didn't replace DVD, it just became the higher-end option.

Blue Ray is a success imo, but it will never be as successful as the CD or DVD were, simply cause it's not that huge of an upgrade as tape or VHS to CD or DVD was. No one feels the need to buy a Blue Ray, unless they are upgrading/buying a new media player in general so it will just take more time for it become as established as DVD.

Also while digital distribution is the future, I'm sure there will remain a (smaller) market for physical media for people like us, or you know people wanting to gift it in general.

Though honestly I don't know how things are in the US, but here if you buy online you can get most films and TV shows much cheaper on blue ray than from digital distribution services (same thing with video games really, unless we are talking about steam sales)., so I'm really glad it exists :D

Blue Ray is totally awesome on the right setup like my parents have. Unfortunately, it's not worth the 40% price increase over a DVD for me on a dinky 720p LCD with a mediocre sound system, and neither are really worth it in my opinion unless you can't find them on a streaming service.
