I often feel like I'm surrounded by morons (no offense to anyone here, of course). I'm officially convinced that it's actually true. Gods help us.

Guys, lets be honest. We all know the future economies of both Japan and America are going to be based on giant robots for fighting monsters, with US style robots based on 50's land-yacht style and Japanese style robots based on super sleek and shiny forms of electric cars and consumer robots circa 2045.BurningDoom wrote:

Those robots would be pretty easy to imagine honestly,Forlorn Drifter wrote:Guys, lets be honest. Seems like? That's 9 years!brunoafh wrote:Pacific Rim is going to be the first movie I'll see in a theatre since... Spider Man 2, which seems like quite awhile ago. For the most part I don't really enjoy movies, and I hate movie theatres. But as a huge mecha fan I think I'm gonna go see it and see what's up. I'm wondering if there is an IMax around here or whatever, not that I even know what it is.
I don't know if I'd feel comfortable rating either over the other; I found both to be hilarious and worth watching and look forward to seeing again later.Retrodude wrote:Despicable Me 2
I've said before that I think Illumination's first two films were better than Pixar's offerings in their respective years, so I was interested to see if they could top Pixar again, especially since I really really liked Monsters University. In my opinion, they did, if only just. While the first film was equally about Gru's character arc and the girls' character arc, this time around, it's all about Gru. It's starting to become an overused claim these days, but this is really more a film for adults with the slapstick and Minion-centric comedy relief just there to keep kids from getting bored with Gru's story. This is not a bad thing and in fact, they pull off a pretty good balance so the slapstick doesn't overwhelm the very character-based plot. Speaking purely in terms of story, I would say that MU and DM2 are equally good, but in terms of creativity, imagination and originality, DM2 is definitely the better of the two. Sorry, Pixar. Better luck next time.
