It was explained in #49 (this Tie Fighter episode) that they felt the show ran its course in 2015, and that the quality in the games voted on every month by the HG 101 forum for them to play declined and as a result, so did the podcast. They also felt they didn't do a good job in finding out more about the chosen games they were unfamiliar with (such as Obitus) beforehand.

However, they do plan on doing another project (podcast?) but they're not giving much more information than that now.

Go and check out the Madden episode anyway. It was one of my favorites.

If that's the case, I can't say I disagree. They have always played that were somewhat rough around the edges and a bit obscure, but Obitus, Spelunker II and the Gameboy version of Daikatana are not exactly titles many are thrilled to hear about.

I can't tell if that's sarcastic....but the Vectrex is the god-console. If there is a certain gaming "master race," it's the Vectrex Master Race.
I seriously regret selling my Vectrex and multi cart from time to time. Maybe some day I'll buy it back.

They stopped talking about Daikatana halfway in and started talking about the GBC and other games. They also stopped halfway in during the episode for Contents Under Pressure. I actually found the general discussions on both those episodes far more engaging. But they put out lots of good stuff and it's still going to be a shame to see them go. The concept of playing unfamiliar games without any sort of help takes you back to the days of gaming pre-internet.

Episode #50 is going to be Legacy of the Wizard. I know a certain RB member who might give that a listen.

I've got five or six games for my Vectrex, but honestly, it's basically the Berzerk machine (since I think the Vectrex version is better than the Atari 2600 version).

In rediscovering the original Xbox recently and a new spark lighting up about playing more 6th gen games again... I think I've decided to basically retire that gen on PC, with the only exceptions being PC exclusive games (obviously) or maybe some GOG ports since I think they actually put some work into them and the optimization.

I think I'm just totally lazy thesedays on the PC. I don't want to have to do research on any random game from this era in figuring out how to get them running without issues on PC. I also don't play any games on my monitor outside of isometric stuff, and with Steam Big Picture mode or just 7th gen games and up, this is usually common place and very doable... but this only complicates the matter even more with 6th gen games and down. This alone kind of doubles the hassle. Also I'm more of a physical media kind of guy by the end of the day. The satisfaction of pulling and placing that case back on the shelves after beating them obviously isn't there with digital stuff.

So... yeah. I probably won't even bother anymore. Glad I'm not too bad with the Steam backlog, but I'll probably rebuy a few of the older titles I got on actual consoles and enjoy them way more.

Consoles 4 life.

Playing the game Roundabout, only to find that one of the actresses in the game... was an old co-worker of mine when I worked at Blockbuster! WHAT!?!
