MIL-CD capable (ones that can play backup CDs) are those Dreamcasts manufactured before October 2000, primarily.

My Dreamcast I got in 2001 (clearance at $50 new) is compatible, as is the one I got off of shopgoodwill.com for $9 not including shipping.

I mentioned my model month/year in my post above. Thanks, though. So... anything before June 2001 is safe, then.

Sorry to overlook that. Storino, it might be October 2000 what I read.

Ok, there's a circled number on the DC label on the bottom. A 0 or 1 is golden but a 2 is iffy. I'm pretty sure I've seen people say October and December before. Though apparently you can get the later ones to boot stuff too, it's just a little trickier. If you're standing at your favorite thrift store, remember the circled number if you have no resources available and you've got a good idea at least.

Well, I've got two DCs that ready burnt games now. I think I'm good to go.

I was not aware of this. I thought they all played burned games. In the past I've bought them up like crazy and given them to friends, and they've all played burned games.

I guess I just got really lucky? At this point, I'm guessing that the ones that don't play burned games are super rare? LOL.

If you want to unload that World Series Baseball 2k1 - let me know. I was re-organizing my DC collection the other day and realized this is the only 2K sports game I didn't have a real copy of.

That place was tiny. I would have seen it. I joke as for as thrift stores go, they are a lot nicer than the people who work at thrift stores in Kansas City.

I bought Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (N64) for $3 at a Flea Market the other day. That game fucking sucks!
