The Comic Book Thread
Re: The Comic Book Thread
I read the first GN of the the All-New All-Different Avengers and loved it. Very different team dynamic than I've experienced before, but I love it. Mark Waid is excellent at capturing the voices of characters as defined by other authors. He stays very true to characters' natures.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
agreed! I just read The Avengers #2.1 last night and I'm loving that series so much already. If you want a NEW comic that feels like an OLD comic, the you need to check this series out. You can get #1.1 and #2.1 so far.marurun wrote:Mark Waid is excellent at capturing the voices of characters as defined by other authors. He stays very true to characters' natures.

Hey Noise, my copies of Inhumans vs X-Men #0 and #1 came the other day. Great recommendation. I read #0 the other day and just read #1 this morning. I'm thoroughly enjoying the story thus far and just pre-ordered #2.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
my wife got me some good comics for Christmas...
Batman/Aliens - a new collection that brings together several Dark Horse series involving Batman, Superman, Aliens and Predators. A lot of stuff that I'm into combined.
Daredevil: The Man Without Fear
Daredevil: Born Again - these were both surprises. She knew I was really into the TV show, but had no DD in my comic book collection. And she's a fan of Frank Miller, so she thought these would be good ones to start with.
Jessica Jones Vol. 1 - y'all know I love JJ.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Ultimate Collection Vol. 1 - IDW's reprint of the original Mirage series. This first volume is a beautiful hardcover with b/w reprints of the first 7 issues and some bonus stuff.
X-Men '92 Vol. 0 - the complete 2015 run, which I never read. But have loved the 2016 run.
I also got some bags, boards and a box to start keeping all my issues organized and in good shape.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
so I think I've made a pretty good tentative list of my crash-course in reading and re-reading 90's stuff that I'm interested in. Note that this isn't necessarily the "best" or "most essential" stuff exactly - but more so things that I've either (A) wanted to read back in the actual 90's, or (B) have just now heard of and grown interested in lately for whatever reason.
I basically made a huge list and then pruned it; found myself down to ~24 books which seems pretty good - if I could read 2 of these a month for the next month in tandem with my regular reading then that would be pretty awesome.
My only real question before I 'finalize' the list has to do with some of the repeated stuff... meaning, I know I want to read Infinity Guantlet - but I'm not 100% sure I *need* to read War & Crusade. Thoughts?
1990:
Spider-Man: Torment
Elektra Lives Again
1991:
The Amazing Spider-Man: Return Of The Sinister Six
X-Men: X-Tinction Agenda
The New Fantastic Four: Monsters Unleashed
Infinity Gauntlet
1992:
The Invincible Iron Man: War Machine
The Punisher: War Zone
Infinity War
X-Men: X-Cutioner's Song
The Death Of Superman
Spawn: Volume 1
Youngblood: Volume 1
1993:
Maximum Carnage
Infinity Crusade
Daredevil: The Man Without Fear
1994:
Marvels
Spider-Man: Clone Saga
1995:
X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse
The Last Avengers Story
1996:
DC Vs. Marvel
Kingdom Come
1997:
Deadpool: Mission Improbable
1999:
Daredevil: Guardian Devil

Re: The Comic Book Thread
hey so of all the things I've been reading lately, I thought I'd mention the new Hulk comic to y'all

...so actually it's a new She-Hulk series. But the title makes sense.
This new series is for fans of Jessica Jones and things like that. This is a book about PTSD; about dealing with loss; about how crippling our emotions can be when all we want to do is be normal.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
I have found a lot of The She-Hulk I have read to be good, solid character stuff.
