I want something larger than the 3 small dogs we have because the idea of a large cat intimidating small dogs is amusing to me.
That is the best reason to get a pet.

Small cats tend to intimidate large dogs. Cats in general don't put up with shit from dogs, and that frightens the dogs.

...In some occasions. Not the case with my dog. At all (well, under a release command she definitely wouldn't take guff from a cat. And a "victim" command would make for a kitten haired rug).

I have a savannah cat on hold until I move out... so there's that. Love the dog-like personality... and the ability to use a litter box. I also plan to leash train it.

That's generally true, but that doesn't remove the risk of introducing a new animal to the house. If the dog is intimidated by the cat, that increases the chance of aggression, and an attack. The dog usually ends up on the nasty end, but if it's a really big dog the cat can easily be killed by a chomp and snap. Also, if the cat is hostile towards the dog, 9 times out of 10 that means the cat is actually scared of it. Cats that don't give a damn when a dog comes up and sniffs them are the ones that truly don't give a shit about what the dog does and are not scared.

In any case, animals are generally indifferent to the concept of size. Doesn't matter how large the dog is, how small the cat is, etc, dominance will be established by personality first and foremost, especially with domesticated dogs/cats that aren't fighting for food. You don't really want any of the animals scaring or intimidating each other if you want a state of peace. Domesticated pets will typically reach some state of harmony on their own, but a lot of it has to do with the owner too.

I'm not working out to be 'skinny' exactly. It's more of something to keep me healthy and to get out of the house. I've always been slender because I have my dad's metabolism, but getting pregnant showed me that I really need to take care of my body if I want to be around longer. As a teen, I would eat fast food every day, chug soda, and wonder why I had bad acne and felt horrible all the time. According to my BMI, I was moderately underweight, but my doctor never used it to diagnose anything because of the inaccuracy. When I changed my diet to supplement my needs, the change in how I felt was amazing.

I never had body issues aside from my teeth. When the girls in high school started that shit, I just got up and walked away. I'm thankful for what I have, and if I wasn't I would do something about it instead of sit there and bitch.

And I didn't take that as an insult RetroDude, my mind was in the gutter and I was giggling and snorting for a few minutes. I wasn't offended at all.

I want a pet really bad. This is the first time in my life I've ever been without one. We can't commit to giving it proper care right now, so it's something we have to hold off on.
I'm here for your body.

Frown: I've got some internal conflicts going on right now, and I can't really know how to feel about it. This isn't something I can talk to my parents about, and those that I have previously talked with haven't given me answers I can deal with.
