I owned both the Wii and Vita version. I sold the Wii version because...

The Vita version has a better localization than the Wii one (wetter).

The sword names are actually translated in the Vita version.

Vita version has trophies.

You can remap the buttons in the Vita version, meaning you can actually have a dedicated Jump button.

Graphics are a bit sharper on the Vita, due to being scaled to native resolution (and dat OLED). Plus since the Vita has a higher resolution than the Wii, you can see that amazing 2D artwork with a bit more clarity than before. (Vita = 960x544, Wii = 852 X 480)

The Vita version has a buncha DLC:

That alone is a reason to buy the Vita over the Wii version.

I got so infuriated with the controls that I had to stop.

I actually liked using up to jump on Wii. It's one of the few non-fighting games where I think that control scheme worked really well, probably because the jumps where so huge and floaty.

My question, of course, is how superior? Does anyone have experience with both? I'm likely to get a Vita for Christmas, so I'm wondering if I should go out of my way to snag it or not.

Agree Odin Sphere is easier to get into (own the PS2 version) then Wii Muramasa. Both very good games.

How does the Vita compare to the PS2 version?

So the Leningrad level of Battle out of Hell is set to the Soviet National Anthem. Awesome.

I just bought "Game Over: Nintendo's Battle to Dominate an Industry".
Are out there any other great gaming history book ?
(I heard Masters of Doom are pretty great too, but something about consoles/CRPGs would be better)

Thanks.

if you're interested in Sega, then Service Games: The Rise & Fall Of Sega is absolutely essential. Such a fascinating narrative, I've been tempted to go back and re-read it as it's been a few years.

I put that new Console Wars book on my Christmas list as well, so hope to read that soon.

I liked it - it's basically about Tom Kalinske's tenure as Sega of America's CEO. More or less, the 16-bit era, so I'd say anyone who fondly remembers the advertising and competition from that time would enjoy it.
