I agree that Soul Blazer is better than Gaia but Terranigma murders them both. That game is godly, no pun intended.
Bahamut Lagoon is one of the better SRPGs of that era, I think. Love those giant crazy ass dragons.

Yup, always gotta run with Elway, but whoever you're playing will usually catch onto that by the 2nd quarterSarge wrote:In other words, if you've ever wondered why John Elway sucks in this game, now you know.
Without a doubt. I have to give this board credit though, it was the discussion here (I think in the RPG of the month thread?) that was 2nd guessing IoG that made me play it again, an yeah that game falls flat for me when I play it nowdays.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I agree that Soul Blazer is better than Gaia but Terranigma murders them both. My big problem with Bahamut Lagoon is leveling the bejesus out of my dragons and making the rest of the game just a cakewalkBoneSnapDeez wrote:Bahamut Lagoon is one of the better SRPGs of that era, I think. Love those giant crazy ass dragons.

Re: SNESdrunk reviews
Fantasy Anime summed it up best.
Bahamut Lagoon rulz!! =D The graphics and animation makes me piss in my pants, and it'll make you piss in your pants too, dammit. The battles are SO FUN!! Yoyo (one of the main characters) is a slutty, weak-minded whore. Even the almighty Tomato is disgusted by her. Here's a quote from his translation notes:
"She's just plain stupid, and although that's not a problem in the plot, her dialogue and stuff was so stupidly written I wanna barf. Anyway, I didn't have to try too hard to bring across her ditziness."
Heh. =P Anyway, I highly recommend this game. Just, everything about it is awesome. Ah, but the only thing I don't like about Bahamut Lagoon is that most of the dragons are so butt ugly. There's one example toward the left. It's like Slimer from Ghostbusters after three hours of sex with Monica Lewinsky. That little thing next to it is their daughter, because Monica Lewinsky is known for her quick, unnatural births. Oh and one of the old men in it, Sendak, has a crush on the main character. This scene is one example of his lust for young same-sex meat. Lol sorry, I haven't really said much about the game itself in this opinion. Not much comes to mind when I think of Bahamut Lagoon. Just, the game is awesome, go play it.

I have no idea what this means but I'm cracking the fuck up. That's the greatest review everThat little thing next to it is their daughter, because Monica Lewinsky is known for her quick, unnatural births.
Man, literally EVERY other Fantasy Anime review is so milquetoast too, just the usual "Gosh I just love this game!" stuff, where did THAT come from?
Re: SNESdrunk reviews
Yeah I've been pretty vocal about my dislike of Illusion of Gaia. Hardly terrible... but not really good either. Bottom of the barrel Quintet for me.
Re: SNESdrunk reviews
I still like Gaia a lot, it just isn't Terranigma or Soul Blazer. The former is just incredible. My favorite action-RPG on the system, assuming we don't count Zelda as such. Soul Blazer is fun in its simplicity. In some ways, Gaia lacks the immediacy of that game, and doesn't quite hit the heights of Terranigma's varied combat. Plus, as SNESdrunk mentioned, the story is just... hmmm. Weird. Even weirder than the other two. And not really in a good way.
Dang it, y'all are making me want to make a Quintet run now.

Just chiming in to agree with some things...SNESdrunk wrote:Elgato Game Capture HD (this thing) and the Retron 5, or the Snes9x 1.53 emulator with save states. And what microphone?
I got the Elgato HD (not the HD60, the regular HD version) last year and I love it. Very easy to use. I've captured HD footage as well as SD footage, and it works well for both.
I also use Adobe Audition. When I was in high school, I sampled a bunch of different audio editing software and went with Cool Edit as it was, by far, the easiest to use. I hate having to figure out how to use complicated software. The way the Cool Edit GUI is laid out, it just seems very nature. Everything is right where you expect it to be. I moved on to Audition 3.0, and I've been using it ever since.
A lot of people also seem to use Audacity, which is free audio editing software.
As for a mic, Bone, I know you play bass and whatnot. If you already own a decent mic, you could use something like this:
It's a USB audio interface. It's basically a 2 channel mixer on a USB sound card. The inputs are hybrid XLR and 1/4" jacks, so you can use microphones or even instruments (guitar or bass) directly. I have the older version of this model and I love it.
I never actually played the NES game, but I played a lot of the SNES version. It's the only sports game I ever cared to play on the SNES back in the day.SNESdrunk wrote:Thursday, November 17, 2016 - Tecmo Super Bowl

You spoony drunk, how dare you talk bad about one of my all time favourites!SNESdrunk wrote:Tuesday, November 22, 2016 - Final Fantasy IV [SNES]
Nostalgia aside, you are right that there are better ways to play FF4. Although I don't remember too much more difficulty with the PSP version, but that might be because I enjoy grinding.
Another enjoyable video

Nice vid. Enjoyed the reference to The 7th Saga.
I've actually never played much of Final Fantasy II on SNES. I didn't get the game when it launched and by the time I was deep into JRPGs the fan translation was out so I opted for emulation instead. Fun game, but not one I'd like to play over and over (III/VI is a whole 'nother story).
