I meant to say Level 3 shot there, yep. But you are right! It started changing color even before it released its first set of orbs (!) and it even shot them down slightly faster and it took out the Newalone-gathering creature quickly. It isn't effective for the beam-duel, but it's great for the rest. Just have to remember to avoid all the molecules while fighting.

With that, a slight score increase.

Would like to stop dying in the same place on 3 already :lol: Always right on that vertical scrolling component (so it's a SHMUP portion there!)

Good morning! Couldn't sleep, so I thought a round of Metal Black would do me good. This must be my lucky day because I finally got a new high score:

I'm sticking with the Saturn for now, but if I get into a rut again, I'll switch things up by trying the PS2 version.

I'm still dying at least once on level 2. Also, this score would have been higher had the bonus round wasn't a crappy one this time (entered into level 2 with only 68k).

I had begun level 2 with my usual 80k, I would have beaten ExedExes score. Next time, ExedExes, next time!

Making nice progress! I still lose a life to level 2, but luckilty that first extend comes quick, so you can still have some lives to work on stage 3.

Those bonus stages are stupid. My only real gripe with this game. The one that takes place after stage 3 is so stupid.

Yeah, your trick of using beam on those multi-directional shooting ships worked well. I still end up dying right before though. Maneuvering to get that last "silo" usually puts me in a spot I can't maneuver back out of without getting hit by something. Tough spot.

Yeah, that spot gets me too. Its hard to kill that silo and then start dodging those diagonal shots while waiting for that moon to get on screen more.

Heh, my gf was watching me play this last night, and as I was approaching the boss, she points and says, "Thats no moon!" :lol:

Trailing behind the pack but getting better. Here's the best of a few runs. That one part in stage 2 before the boss just chews me up.

That little run near the end of stage 2 is so much harder than the boss of stage 2... and the beginning of stage 3.

I can always do a youtube thing once I'm home if it would help.
