Porting a title like that from PSN to PC would be dirt simple. I'm sure it'll happen eventually, actually. Steam has really helped.

I doubt it's a dream, I'd wager its likely even. If this wasn't ported to PC at some point I'd be surprised actually.*

*IMO: Developers see the current generation as three tiers; PS3/One/PC. And the hardware manufacturers of said consoles went out of their way to maintain compatible parity with PC, because of how popular the platform has become (mostly thanks to Steam I hate to admit). Which means porting around is a lot simpler than it used to be, thankfully.

Alright, I know I already asked this before with a different game, but I don't remember getting an answer that really satisfied me, so here goes.

I'm playing though Dragon Quest Heroes. For those that have also played it:
Is it a beat'em up/hack'n slash, or is it an Action RPG?

More importantly, if you are willing to explain, why is it one over the other? Are the two even mutually exclusive?

I mean there's some games with hack'n slash qualities that I can still firmly say are RPGs (Kingdom Hearts and Bloodborne, for example) and games with RPG qualities that I can still firmly say are hack'n slash/beat'em ups (Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Sengoku Basara) but lately - like the past two years especially - I've been seeing a lot of games that leave me scratching my head.

Last game I had this issue with was Akiba's Trip, and while I lean on it being an RPG, I lack the ability to fully explain why I feel that way, it's just a feeling.

For the record, I know this is all trivial. I just have a nagging thought in the back of my head that wants to understand what makes up and separates a genre. And hey, this is the Random Gaming Thoughts thread.

Turns out I'm really terrible at Castlevania Bloodlines. Like... can't reliably beat the second stage without a game over terrible. I don't remember being this terrible before.

If anybody happens to have a copy of Far Cry 3 on PS3 and would be willing to help me bust out a coop mission or two, I would be grateful. Doing these missions with randoms isn't going well.

EDIT: Scratch that one, got em done. Just took a whole lot of playing the system until I got to be host.

Use Eric. Eric's reach and moveset are awesome. John can sit this one out.

It took me a couple of goes at it to get Bloodlines' rhythm down. It feels a bit different from other entries in the series.

If memory serves, I've beaten it with both characters. There are advantages to both, but I'm pretty sure I used Morris on my last legit run.

I've been using Eric. I think what's throwing me the most is the character movement is Classicvania style but many of the enemies are extremely mobile like a Metroidvania.

Yep, that's why I choose Eric, because he has unique moves to accommodate that aspect moreso than John. From the manual:

The Mega Jump is great for avoiding large charging enemies (and attacking airborne ones), and the Spinning Lance is great for deflecting mobbing underlings (and IIRC deflects some projectiles). And as the manual says, you are invincible while doing the Mega Jump, so it helps to withstand certain boss attacks.

You can do this Popo. 8)
