I always liked the old school farmer method of killing snakes. You put glass eggs in the chickens nest, so that when the snake grabs an egg, he'll grab the glass one instead, which will break inside him and kill him.

But that would be torture as opposed to something quick.

Well, I guess so. I just don't personally feel bad about hurting a snake.

Thanks guys. This has been an odd experience overall. It's a strange moment to realize your parents' mortality and to recognize that which will likely come after me. I keep thinking back to an indy game under development by a man dealing with his terminally ill child, That Dragon, Cancer. It's an apt name, and a disturbing one that I will likely face someday as well. Cancer is what kills us in my family. So I may very well be forced to slay my dragon or be consumed by it. Hopefully not for many more decades.

It's quite the experience to have the issue of mortality thrown in your face, especially when someone close to you is at risk. Being the optimist that I am (or try to be) I look at it this way: we are are going to have to face that day, but instead of dreading it, take better care of yourself and those around you. My Aunt is dying of cancer, and she is a perfect example of the point I'm trying to make. She knows that she only has months left, but instead of living in fear, she is just relaxing and enjoying her family's company. Her words on the subject are "I'd rather die happy and loved, rather than scared and have people fear for me. I'm not that kind of person. I'm going out with a smile." Those words have echoed in my head for a while, and it kind of puts me at ease knowing that she is happy.

I'm very glad that your mother has made it through a dark period. Nobody deserves to be taken before their time, and I'm glad that she will have many more years to come. I wouldn't wish that pain on anybody.

Good to hear your mother is ok. I can relate. My mother had cancer a few years ago, she is better now but I always worry for her.

Smile: Those of you who gave me support when I needed it the most when Charlotte needed surgery. All of the thoughts/prayers meant so much to me and made something I was super nervous about, a little easier to go through and in turn easier for Charlotte as I was able to put on a brave face. Update: things look amazing with her eyes and she is without glasses for now! Here is a before and after (2.5 weeks post surgery).
