Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Ghost Trick is probably in my top 10 games of all time. I love it.
Those pie charts are pretty cool. I posted some pretty detailed stats on my games beaten list at the end of last year, but I like the idea of making them more visually appealing, maybe I'll try it at the end of the month.

Cool pie chart. The lack of Atari, Intellivision, ColecoVision, and Vectrex is devastating though.
DEVASTATING.
By the way, how did you count (officially) emulated games? If you played any, that is? For instance - would, say, Phantasy Star on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection be considered a Master System game or a PS3 (or Xbox 360) game?

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I mulled over this for my end of year stats last year and decided that games which were ported to modern consoles via virtual console, collections etc I would count as their original console (so your example I'd count as 'Master System' but remakes and remasters etc I'd count as being on the new console - so Wind Waker HD would be a Wii U game, not Gamecube, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire would be 3DS, not GBA.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Cool pie chart. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
All great systems but their relative level of simplicity doesn't appeal to me. Nothing wrong with any of those platforms though. I loved my Atari 2600 as a kid, Vanguard was my favorite on it.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The lack of Atari, Intellivision, ColecoVision, and Vectrex is devastating though.
If they are only being emulated, I would count them towards whatever system they originally debuted on, regardless of the platform emulating them. Like if I emulated a Game Boy game via an Android emulator, I'd still count it as a Game Boy game. Or if it was Intellivision Lives! on DS for example, I'd count those as Intellivision games.how did you count (officially) emulated games?
However as Alienjesus said above, if it's an HD Remake or such, then I'd count it as the the platform the remake was remade for instead.

Also I am very much looking forward to our annual "what was your game of the year" thread. It's always my favorite thread on this site other than Games Beaten.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The very first game I played this year ended up being my favorite of the year.
Though to be fair I haven't played much of anything these last few months.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It was definitely up there for me as well. I really thought I was gonna start playing it and slowly burn out and never finish it, but the game really had me locked in. What I find weird is that I finished 5 time extensive RPGs this year and it all makes sense as to why my Games Beaten list is so tiny. I beat the first two Mass Effects, Earthbound, Grandia and Puzzle Quest for the DS. I can safely say that I logged in 40 hours on Grandia, about 30 hours in Earthbound and about a bajillion hours in Puzzle Quest.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The very first game I played this year ended up being my favorite of the year.Though to be fair I haven't played much of anything these last few months.

I'm already itching to replay Grandia. Maybe on the Saturn next time? Who knows.
Looking forward to II and Parallel Trippers too.
Such a huge backlog.

I am definitely going to give Grandia II a shot next year! I have it on the Dreamcast and can't wait to see if it lives up to Noise's hype.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I'm already itching to replay Grandia. Maybe on the Saturn next time? Who knows.

I'm not an RPG guy but I really loved it. Not sure how it would hold up if I played it today but I had a lot of fun with the battle system and found the characters likable.BogusMeatFactory wrote:I am definitely going to give Grandia II a shot next year!
