Game Boy Advance 85% Off Finds
I have been requesting GBA games shipped in from other Gamestops scattered across the country. GBA carts shipped from Utah, Florida, Texas, Oregon, Virginia and other states. The final pile of games finally arrived, so I'm done for a while getting Gameboy games. That is until I get the Pokemon bug, the series of GBA carts I still am holding off on. Trying to justify if worth getting for Gamecube linking as in the GB versions for N64 Pokedex of Pokemon Stadium. :?

Astro Boy: Omega Factor - $6.99 $1.57
All the reviews I have come across gave this game very good ratings. never bothered with it until now since I already have the Treasure game Gunstar Heros. Wait a minute, Treasure! What was wrong with me! Finally got it shipped in, worth the wait. 8)

Advance Wars $5.99 $1.35
Augments Advance Wars 2 that I received in the previous shipment. From what I see in the game play both seem similar. The cart label is a little rough, I'll make a new one with a proper clear protection the same way I fixed Yoshi's Island.

Archer Maclean's 3D Pool $4.99 $1.13
A little complicated in the controls, however the pool table is a 3d field. A nice perspective.

Final Round Golf - 0.99¢ 0.23¢
A game for less then a Quarter! Reminds me of Links on the PC. Not bad of graphics for a portable screen, power bar a similar control.

Frogger's Adventure 2 - $5.99 $1.35
I didn't order this, but why not? I have the first one and enjoyed the puzzle adventure aspect of the game. More levels to hop thru. :D

Ice Nine - $4.99 $1.13
FPS similiar to Doom. Maybe a collectable considering the PS2 port was cancelled?
monokoma wrote:http://www.unseen64.net/2009/12/15/ice- ... cancelled/

Ice Nine is a cancelled FPS with tactical elements (inspired by the film “The Recruit”) that was in development by Torus Games in 2002 / 2003 for the Playstation 2. The project would have been published by BAM! Entertainment, but for unknown reasons they never released it. During the missions the player would have been able to make choices that would have ultimately impact the multiple endings of the game. A GBA version of Ice Nine was released, but it was obviusly a different game from this one.
Invader - $9.99 $2.25
HEY noise, I finally got this rare game! A bottom SHMUP, with voice built into the game. Bought for the rarity, a pretty good game too!

Invader seems to be a somewhat overlooked GBA exclusive from 2002. And it's pretty much everything I want out of a Shmup. It's brightly colored with crazy robotic bugs and explosions. It's got lots of power-ups, a fantastic ambient-techno soundtrack and vocoder voices. It's really hard, but not infuriating. This is a game I cannot praise enough. Though it's rare that I see it mentioned when discussing GBA Shmups, ultimately I think it will earn a certain cult-status. In my eyes it's like the Ikaruga of the Game Boy Advance.

Most websites claim that Invader was released in the US. But I have no proof of that. Indeed, the only copies I've ever happened upon here in the states are the European version. Copies that apparently made their way over here somehow, some way. And are indeed rare.

I'll tell you this though, friends: Invader rules. I can't say that it's the best GBA Shmup (because of Iridion II), but it's at least tied. And lucky for you the Gamestop website allows you to insert your zip code and see if your local store is carrying a certain game. So if it has Invader, you need to go get it. Trust me on this one, okay?
For some lucky soul there is still one GBA Invader left.
A Gamestop at Zip Code 75211 in Dallas Texas.

Mario & Luigi SuperStar Saga - $19.99 $4.50
Interesting take on the Mario series. Mario and Luigi move together with the DPad, Mario jumps with the A button and Luigi jumps with the B button. Each has a dedicated trigger to select from jump to different actions.

Mario Kart - $19.99 $4.50
THE kart racer to get for the GBA. I don't know how this slipped by on the first order.

Super Mario Advance 4 Super Mario Bros 3 - $19.99 $4.50
Finally have all the Super Mario Advance, ALL FOUR OF THEM! This was the hardest to get pulled correctly due to the title stating Mario 3 and the search for Mario 4.

2600 Phoenix - $1.00 Swap Meet
Though I like Demon Attack better, this is a good rendition of the Arcade, even the shield is here.

FREE FREE FREE
Free from a store that was marking down for disposal.

Spiderman 3 - FREE
Climb walls and shoot web goop at the baddies. Not great, but not bad.

Spiderman Battle for New York - FREE
Start out as the Green Goblin which looks like the hulk. Side scroller walk, jump and punch. Wash Rinse repeat cycle, gaah I hope this gets better.

Sponge Bob Squarepants: The Movie FREE
A basic platformer, if you like the series maybe good to get. The run to crash thru a barrier is interesting, a take on Wario. I'll slug thru this, supposed to have various styles of game play later on.

Spy Kids Challenger - FREE
A nice surprise, better then I thought. 1st level is a platformer up a tall tower. 2nd level is a side SHMUP with a Dragon Fly, now what Arcade game has that same bug?

Yu Gi Oh Volume 1 Yugi versus Joey Video - $3.99 FREE
2 videos I quick tested but probably will never watch. I admit having a Sponge Bob video too.

wow, Invader for $2 is amazing. CRT, notice the label says EUR? I have never actually seen one that says US. It's my theory that the game was cancelled in the US, and all the copies you can find here are imports.

That is strange. A local gamestop years ago had a stack of Dreamcast PAL Shenmue II which I immediately bought one, I think that was something the store manager might have set up. I also once picked up PAL PS2 Alien Hominid from Gamestop, but I think it slipped in from a customer tradein.

The GBA Invader is a puzzler, I wonder how Gamestop acquired the EUR titles?

THERE IS STILL ONE GBA INVADER CART AT GAMESTOP IN DALLAS TEXAS 75211

my guess is just trade-ins. The game was announced for US, so they had it in the system so they could take it in. Even if the game got canceled, they still had a listing in their system. (This is just my personal hunch).

I'd love to build a rapport with my gamestop and gets some of these shipped in. Picked up Pinball of the Dead and Gunstar Super Heroes the other week for $2.75 :o Don't plan on being in Dallas anytime soon though...

CD AGES wrote:@sevin: how's that DC controller? Would you recommend it?
for a third party controller and by Innovation, i was surprised it felt good. the analog stick was responsive but not the best. the d-pad was the only let down for me. when i press up on it, sometimes it would go left...maybe just need a little cleaning but it does feel good. not as hard as the official DC d-pad. the other buttons also feels good and the controller looks great in transparent blue. :)

Yeah, from what I've seen Gamestop tends not to discriminate against PAL games. I've seen numerous PAL DS, PS2 games.

Dropped $20 at a yard sale today. The Dreamcast has no AV cable so it's untested as of now. Sadly the Game Gear has a bad screen and no sound whatsoever. I have no experience with repairs or anything so oh well. But two original Game Boys, the NES Four Score and a (hopefully working) Dreamcast are welcome additions to my collection.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who loves the Nintendo e-Reader.
