Okay, so doing some research looks like the Mother 3 patch is UPS which is used for files larger than 16 mb, so no dice on that one. Still not sure I understand the header vs no header stuff, but I think I'll order a SFC copy of Seiken Densetsu 3 and mess around to see how this stuff works.

Time to fire up that copy of Donkey Kong 94 that I bought a few years back. The battery died so I couldn't play it and save. Now I can get the Super Gameboy borders and use the save states. This thing keeps getting better, I've got a ton of Japanese games to try out after work for translation patches. Will share what I learn later...

I'll test some more patches when I have time.

I have Seiken Densetsu 3, Bahamut Lagoon, FFII/III/V, Ys I, Romancia, Ys V, Brandish 2, Villgust, Dragon Quest V & VI, Mystic Ark, among others... Still several on my wishlist I'll probably pick up in the near future.

There's not an English patch for Mother is there? Probably not, due to the existence of EarthBound Zero.

Is this thing gonna kill the demand for reproduction carts?

That would probably be a good thing though, as it would mean fewer ones that are ending up in the hands of unscrupulous sellers claiming they are prototypes.

Speaking of which, is Energy Breaker in that list of yours to test? I'd love to know whether it works.

Don't have it, sorry.

After I finish Ys IV I'll probably load patches for every JPN game I own onto a SD card and test them out.

Thanks Bone, very interested in hearing your results. I don't see how this COULDN'T kill demand for repros, unless people are that obsessed with playing on original consoles. Personally I'd rather have a legitimate cartridge that I can translate on the fly than have to go the repro route and play on the original hardware. I guess it's all a matter of preference though.

FWIW, I had never considered importing anything before today and was close to getting on the repro train, now I'm scheming how I can fit a bunch of SFC imports into my budget this month.

Hmm, SFC import prices have been rising lately. I wonder if this will cause it to continue shooting up and possibly relieve some of the inflated prices on the domestic SNES side, as people go for the cheaper option but make it more expensive.

Yeah i'm in the same boat don is in, but I was considering getting flash carts just for the things we either didn't get due to release issues or even rom hacks but with this at least I might be able to do the opposite if I'm careful and quick...)

In some cases the imports go for more than the domestics - look at Wild Guns for example.

Yeah, and look at how the price for an import copy of Hagane has been shooting up lately. Ooph, it's painful no matter what you buy.
