After owning it for a few years and seeing a bunch of you play it recently, I have started playing through Painkiller recently.

It doesn't do much, but what it does...it does well.

I am a bit bummed to be like 8-9 or so levels into the game and still just have two guns in addition to my default. Do you get a bunch more soon?

You should be getting your third gun soon. The game only has a total of 5 weapons, each with an alt mode that's essentially a new gun.

Pain/Killer
Shotgun/Freezer
Bolter/Grenade Launcher
Rocket Launcher/Minigun
Driver/Electro

yeah, just got the driver/electro. seems ok, but not enough to replace the bolter or shotgun...

The game manages to balance the weapons fairly well. The shotgun is great against fast melee targets and large enemies (freezer), the bolter is fantastic against ranged enemies and enemies that don't travel in huge packs, the rocket launcher and minigun are just fantastic all around (though the minigun pisses away ammo), and the electro and bolter are solid weapons for any situation; if you get low in one ammo they can pick up the slack.

I basically got to use the electro for about 5 seconds before it ran out of ammo. The bolter 1 shot kills most everything and sticks them to the wall, so thus far it is the one worth sticking with. I have rarely used the shotgun since getting the bolter.

I fired up Hexen II last night for the first time ever. I've played through Heretic and Hexen both but never gave Heretic II or Hexen II the proper time they deserve. After a little while messing with the video options and resolution while suffering from a headache, I got things to an acceptable state and continued on.

So far, it's been an interesting experience: there is little direction for where to go or what to do, but I have slowly been making my way through and figuring stuff out. I just got the Castle Key and have entered a small town-like area. I'm playing as a Paladin, which means I make people submit to my god by beating them with my mitts or my sword. Blood, Death, and Slaughter!

Good to know about the guns in Painkiller. I was wondering that myself. Probably gonna give that big bastard Necrogiant a go today.

Necrogiant is fairly straight forward; just kill him dead before he kills you. When his health gets low he'll bust out his ultimate attack that you have to race down; that's when you want to use your Tarot cards.

I never used a Tarot card ever in the game. Of course, I also didn't earn very many

Play through it on the hardest difficulty. Trust me, you'll start using them.
