What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I know DC wants JUSTICE LEAGUE made asap, but I'm clinging to my hope that they'll establish this new DC Universe and not rush. I can wait. Not that Hawkman needs his own stand alone film, but I'd like to see more of what they're going for.

Wouldn't we need a Wonder Woman film to help establish things as well? And possibly a Flash or Aquaman film?Luke wrote:I know DC wants JUSTICE LEAGUE made asap, but I'm clinging to my hope that they'll establish this new DC Universe and not rush. I can wait. Although I would love an Aquaman movie, I'm not sure he's going to even make the cut for the first JL movie.Ack wrote: Wouldn't we need a Wonder Woman film to help establish things as well? And possibly a Flash or Aquaman film?
Also, it would be something if the first villain in the JL series was Superman due to all the collateral damage and death that guy causes. But something tells me it is also likely that the Hulk will have a similar thing going on in AVENGER'S 2, and DC won't ride Marvel's movie coattails.
edit* "At least five villains confirmed for Spidey Three. Sounds like a possible Sinister Six to me.

Actually it was just announced that due to the success of Man of Steel, Wonder Woman and Aquaman are going into pre-production phase.Luke wrote:Although I would love an Aquaman movie, I'm not sure he's going to even make the cut for the first JL movie.Ack wrote: Wouldn't we need a Wonder Woman film to help establish things as well? Now that all the Turtles fun is out of the way. I just wanted to point out that Superman dealt with Zod in the same way in both the comics and in the Superman II movie.Luke wrote:GI JOE RETALIATION has a ninja in a kitchen. I'm not going to spoiler tag that as it is THE reason to see the movie.BurningDoom wrote: And that's any different from say Transformers or G.I. Joe?
A Ninja, in a Kitchen.
And yes...TRANSFORMERS is very different as far as having the hero being a stink finger. Prime sacrifices his life, as does Duke in GI JOE.
I'm referring to the good GI JOE and great TRASNFORMER movies. The animated ones.
The rest can take a long umbrella walk in the park with Paris Hilton and blow me. That is, except for a scene where a NINJA IS IN A KITCHEN!
And it led to one of the coolest Superman storyarcs written, "Exile", where Superman exiled himself from the Earth and wandered space due to his actions. In the story Mongul and his War World gladiatorial games happened, and it introduced the Eradicator as a major Superman villain.

And if also was written over a decade before World War Hulk. Interesting.

That's why DC and Marvel try to keep their rivalry a friendly one, because they swipe ideas from each other all the time and everyone knows it. As Tarantino once said, "Great artists steal, they don't do homages".Luke wrote:BurningDoom wrote:

I really, really hope you know that he was paying homage to a great artist when he said that. It's the same thing as "A wise man once said to never start a speech with a quote".Retrodude wrote: As Tarantino once said, "Great artists steal, they don't do homages".
I'm so tired of all the teasing:

I still argue with some of my pals in the business about the release date for JUSTICE LEAGUE. They say "soon", I say around 2019.
I will also be seeing MOS next week, had to wait for a sitter (my oldest son is 4) since it is in fact too violent for my kids.According to “knowledgeable people close to the studio,” and quoted by The Wall Street Journal, Warners are looking to fast track a sequel to Man of Steel for release in 2014. That would probably mean they have to get into production in the next six, maybe nine months and skimp on CG postproduction time. And that would be the end of 2014, I’d expect, not the summer.
Furthermore, the nameless, knowledgable ones say that the Justice League movie:
could come out as soon as 2015.
I am afraid I will go in with inflated expectations. My oldest son is named after Superman (Calvin Lee - Cal L.), I have the Superman Batman logo tattooed on my shoulder and my office is decked out with Superman memorabilia... I hope I dig this movie. I know Luke didn't like it, nor did Dave, but in the end it only matters if I like it.
As for the last two movies I watched were:
It took me a while to warm up to it, but in the end it was pretty funny... especially the pole vaulting brother.
This has to be the best movie I have seen thus far this year. The following from Wikipedia sums up why perfectly:
Many critics praised the film for telling a story that reflects the economic climate of the United States in the first decade of the 2000s. Rex Reed of The New York Observer cited the film "does a piercing job of making you feel the dehumanizing effects that losing a job can have on grown men, but it's more truthful and devastating than that."
