If you can't find it, lemme know and I'll help you find it.

MAN OF STEEL.....Again. And the wow factor has completely worn off. I still love the Father and Son story/connection and I'll always think Snyder captured that perfectly, but the rest of the movie is going to age terribly.

When I screened the film for fun, I genuinely had a blast. But now I have no interest in ever seeing it again, and my statement about SUPERMAN RETURNS being better is something I will stand by.

The theater was packed and silent. I don't know if I've ever been in a packed theater where the only audible crowd noise was a snore. My wife slept through most of the movie.

Her review was "Two thumbs down. Bunch of stuff just happening for the sake of stuff happening, and hardly any of it is explained. And how does Lois just show up...everywhere. How did she get to the museum at the end? Wasn't she miles away just seconds ago? And for those who don't read comics, couldn't they have at least explained the importance of the characters?"

I can't argue with her on her points of common sense. I nearly peed myself with laughter when she said the best thing about the movie was that Superman's chest hair poked out of his suit in 3-D! (it does).

More spoilers:

Noticed a few new things. On my first viewing I asked myself "Why in the hell are Zod and Clark flying into a satellite for no explained reason?". The reason is that it says Wayne Enterprises on it.

Weak.

There's also Booster and Blaze "appearances" which I didn't catch earlier.

By far the dumbest thing in the movie that had strangers looking at each other in confusion was near the end when General what's his nuts asks "Who are you and where are you from?". Superman says "You'll never know". And less than a minute he tells the SAME guy "I'm from Kansas" and we already know Lois knows who he is.

By no means am I comparing myself to the legend that was Ebert, but from time to time he'd give a movie 1 star, watch it again, and give it three stars. In this case it's the reverse of that. I got caught up in the John Kent story (who does everything a Dad in a movie does like tinker with cars, pets the dog, loves his wife, etc) and that's why I briefly fell in love with the movie. You remove that element of the movie, and it's just a cliche superhero movie that brings the booms but not the brains.

I still think it's a great modernized take on 1938 Superman.

Good call. The original Superman was take-no-crap type of character.

Wish they would have explained
how they rebuilt Metropolis in a week.

Was it definitely a week? Seeing as how Clark got a job as a reporter at the planet, you'd think at least a little time has gone by. Maybe not 10 years, clearly but who knows. A year? Two? Unless it was expressed that it was that short of a time span, I might have missed it.

I understand what you mean about Superman being kind of a dick, but if nothing else, that's how the comics are now. He is an alien, he's different and doesn't immediately fly to the Whitehouse to introduce himself to the POTUS. He's not trusted because he's a powerful random variable. In the current comic continuity even the Justice League was a little unsure of what do make of him. In truth, the takeo n Superman in MOS was pretty accurate.

edit:

Oh and the Wayne Enterprises reference was intentionally small. Snyder said that's the first glimpse into the larger DC Cinematic Universe. I guess you could say that the scene was their Nick Fury scene in Iron Man 1. Yes, not as cool as Fury showing up, but it still had a reason to be there. I don' think that's weak.

All I'm saying is that they could have put a Wayne Easter Egg that didn't feel shoehorned in. I mean, the only reason they flew into space was to say "lookie here".

Check your sig.

I honestly thought MOS was great when I first saw it, but I didn't watch it objectively. Superhero movies need to bring the laughs (there are none), the "oohs and ahhs!" (people were asleep in my theater, not kidding)and be more of a spectacle than disaster porn.

The Hulk ragdolling Loki was better than anything MOS has to offer.

Then again, I can be a wee bit of a tad opinionated ;)

Oh! The trailer for 301, or whatever it's called, had the audience laughing. Not for good reasons. It looks like a steaming pile.

Are you talking about this?

It's a cheesy, goofy action/historical fantasy movie. What's not to like? If it's at least as good as Wrath Of The Titans, that's good enough for me.
