THAT. FUCKING. SUCKS.

Even by nu metal standards that blows chunks.

I feel embarrassed for the band and embarrassed that I just listened to that. Thank god I'm wearing headphones, I don't want my daughter exposed to such bullshit.

I told you it was bad! I think it might rank up there as one of the worst "comeback" albums ever. The fact that it's basically "selling out" to a style that stopped being popular long before the album came out is just icing on the cake. What a disaster.

Luckily that concert they're just playing Covenant "and other classic material" (I'm assuming this means just Altars and Blessed stuff), so I won't have to worry about hearing any of THAT.

I found the full album on YouTube. Top comments:

I am not picky when it comes to metal, but this is a massive pile of dog shit.

might be one of the worst albums ever

I literally can't get over how bad this is.

Kinda surprised to see they still use their original logo too.

Yup you're pretty much having the same reaction that I did when it came out. :P

most people hear it as "kill a cop cop"

As killer coughdrop though I can imagine the band is a new edgy version of The Beets from Doug.

Listening to Benediction now... Trying to recover from the horrors of that Morbid Angel album.

Manowar - Sons of Odin
How's the new Children of Bodom album? Haven't even listened to the one released in 2011 myself. The new style is so boring, I feel like it's trying too hard to be aggressive with out really being truly "brutal" or aggressive, it's just sounds like wharhhbglhglgRAWRAWRAW. Not just the lack of awesome keyboard/synth stuff and those classical music riffs or whatever you wanna call 'em, but also Alexi's locals, they sound so monotone. I'M TRYING TO SOUND AS HARD AS AGGRESSIVE AS I CAN, boring as shit. And yeah, all melodeath lyrics sound hard and aggressive, but there's a difference between the old COB vocals and new ones, and between sounding good/natural and trying too hard in general. I think this nails the kind of more aggressive and less melodical style that COB is trying to sound like really well.
Anyway, here's some good old stuff
Children of Bodom - Towards dead end
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I didn't think the 2011 album (Blooddrunk) was very good. It wasn't terrible, but it was unimpressive enough to make me more or less lose interest in following them. Although, I'm not really big on anything by them past their first three albums as it is (which I thought were very good, and I think Hatebreeder is among the best of its kind). Laiho's guitar work seems to get less impressive with each release, and by Are You Dead Yet, pretty much everything that made them really good is about gone. In Blooddrunk, it sounds like they've reached the point where they're just putting out albums to do it.

Despite all that, I'm moderately interested in the new album, but yeah. It's hard to get excited about it.
