Thanks Ziggy. I actually have Super Mario World. It was bundled with a SNES I have.

I assumed the shoulder buttons didn't do anything on one of the controllers because well... Nothing happened lol. Just cleaned all of them so I am going to test again.

What about that spin jump? Do you need a power up for that?

MK2 is on my list. I like the Saturn version. But want to try the SNES version because it looks the same minus load times.

Space Megaforce has a controller test built in, but that's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. What about a game that lets you remap buttons by simply clicking the one you want to set? Or are you set on playing some game for 5 minutes to testing purposes?

Killer Instinct will also work, as it is a six button game. Just plug in two controllers, hop into a two player game, try all the buttons with each character, and switch out controllers as necessary.

I do not believe this will let you test the select button, however.

In other news, I have been getting into Street Racer lately and am enjoying myself, though the game has a definite learning curve. I asked earlier about racers and picked this up on the recommendations I got. How about other games with car customization? Is there a decent beginners Formula 1 game with car customization for the SNES?

Yea. This is how I usually like testing controllers, that way I can not only test if they are working, but also get a feel for the button reactions.

Any title screen with 1/2 player or an options choice.

I forget exactly how to use L and R in SMW. I think you have to hold either down for a second or two, or double click it maybe. Something like that. It was one of those things that was found out by accident then immediately put in the back of the head and never used.

Press A to do a spin jump. You can do a spin jump in any state. However, with any power up a spin jump can break certain blocks. These blocks cannot be broken by a spin jump when you're small Mario.

The Saturn version of MKII falls short of what it SHOULD have been given the power of the console. The SNES port is the best version of all the original console ports, IMO. Best home version to date (not including emulating the real arcade version) is on the PS3, IMO. And not the "Arcade Kollection" that fucked up all the audio levels. The original MKII port released on PSN.

The PS and SNES controllers are set up better for MK anyway. Genesis and Saturn controllers are set up better for Street Fighter.

Thanks for that. There still might be some hope for my L and R buttons after all. :D Thought the delay was because my L + R buttons were broke.

Shopping for MK2 at the moment because I agree that the SNES controller is best for MK. It's like it's made for MK tbh. Can't wait.

F1 ROC, F1 Pole Position, and Nigel Mansell's World Championship are all good picks.

If we are talking about a game that utilizes all the buttons on the snes controller, how come nobody has brought up Super Metroid yet? That's the one game I think of when talking about a snes game that uses all the buttons. And you can set the buttons to whatever you want, except for the start button, which naturally pauses the game.
