Also saw a trailer for Pacific Rim, which features GlaDOS as the AI of the giant robots.
Yeah the Mass Effect spinoff movie was pretty decent.

Pacific Rim definitely looks like Transformers done right, pretty stoked for that one.
It seemed like Real Steel meets that one episode of Evangelion where Shinji and Asuka had to learn how to synchronize their movements.

I finally saw Iron Man 3 after real life forced me to constantly re-schedule it over the past week. It was also my first 3D film, and I loved the experience. Out of the 3, this is the best by far and is better than 2 for sure.

I am currently watching L'Avventura (1960)...and when I say "currently", I mean "right now...no seriously, right now, as I type this post." I know this is a great film that re-wrote the language of cinema - and I have a pretty high tolerance for boring movies - but, my god, this is the dullest film I have ever seen in my life. (It is even duller than Michelangelo Antonioni's The Passenger (1975), which, until today, was the dullest movie I had seen.) Only serious film students should bother with this one...the rest of us, even those of us who normally enjoy classic foreign films, should skip this one.

If you want a really good classic film, I highly recommend A Face In The Crowd with Andy Griffith. If you only knew him as Sheriff Taylor or Matlock, prepare to be impressed.

30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Don't expect much from this obvious mockbuster version of Scary Movie 5 and A Haunted House (also by the Wayans brothers who were also a major part of Scary Movie 1-2). It's got some laughs, and my recommendation to those who WANT to see this, just use a promo code at the Redbox machine.

Starring, as well as written and produced by, Chris Colfer (known for playing Kurt Hummel on Glee, as well as the author of the YA book series "The Land of Stories") and featuring such actors as Rebel Wilson, Allison Janney, Sarah Hyland and Christina Hendricks, Struck by Lightning is a coming-of-age dramedy about a talented young man who dreams of writing for The New Yorker and his attempts at starting a literary magazine at his close-minded small-town high school, which is part of his plan to get into Northwestern University, as well the world around him.

I loved it.

There's also a book, which is basically the journal of the main character, Carson Phillips (Colfer).

Virtuosity

Unfortunately it was bad the year it came out. Plus a very misplaced credits song.

Saw Star Trek Into Darkness on Monday. Wife forced me to take her because she 'let' me buy the first 6 trek movies on Bluray. I really only bought the set because it included II, IV and VI and it was 6 Bluray movies for $40. I might actually just throw out V.

Anyway, Into Darkness was ok. Well, not ok, I did enjoy it. I just wish
they hadn't used Khan. They should have pulled a Batman Begins and teased him at the end, and then use him for Star Trek II or IV. And why couldn't they have gotten Benicio del Toro to play Khan? Khan was Spaniard or Mexican like Ricardo IM FUCKING AWESOME AND YOU KNOW IT Montalban.

I also thought the Core Irradiation scene swap was unneeded. It was like they were trying to be Lucas with Episode 1 - 3. "LOOK!! its C3PO! Remember! I made darth vader build him as a kid!!! ISNT THAT NOSTALGIC!?

Speaking of that scene, Spock screaming Khan was.. wow even just thinking about it now, it was forced. Quinto doesn't really have the chops to pull off a scream like that NOT TO MENTION HE'S A VULCAN. It had some issues, but ignoring those pieces, it was an enjoyable film. Am I the only one that absolutely cannot stand that kid that plays Chekov though? The movie definitely needed more Scotty and Bones. Those two dudes are channeling Kelley and Doohan. Really really great performances in both films.

Technically a teleplay, I was recently shown Jim Henson's The Cube which I found to be amazing.

Big budget movies are the definition of selling-out, but Willis manages to outsell the sell-outs with the weakest DH entry yet. Despite its adherence to a three decade tradition of silly action tropes, the first hour was actually okay, but the film became rather tiresome afterwards. And McClane keeps on yapping about being on vacation. Really those silly one-liners no longer work.
