What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
You mean you don't want to be unsure whether you have a glare on your TV or if it's just how the movie's supposed to look?

Bof'em.
Try watching JJ's STar Trek, muted, no subtitles, for five minutes. It's just shiny stuff, people wondering around aimlessly until Kirk gets into another fight, and lens flares. Don't like it.
But you'd have to be a nickel short of a dime to think Disney and JJA didn't have the "This isn't Star Trek" talk.

To be fair, on the Star Trek dvd's special features, there's a segment where they show a couple of shots with the lens flare and without, and the one without looks incredibly fake. As JJ himself points out, whether they know it or not, the audience has been trained to expect certain visual elements and you'd miss them if they weren't there.

I just took a look at Abram's full TV and movie credits and I don't think I've ever really enjoyed a single thing the guy has written, produced, or directed. This is one of the brightest new creative talents in Hollywood according to some people?

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I watched the latest Star Trek movie the other day and enjoyed it up to a point. I could stomach the fan service for a while, until about a little over half way through when things really hit the fan and everything they were attempting to build up, just fell flat on its face.
I tried to enjoy the film just as a popcorn flick and I couldn't even do that. I was really disappointed. I don't really want to dig deep into why I disliked the movie just yet, so that people can get a chance to see it, but man... it was just... not good.

Yes. Yes he is. If you're not a fan of his work, that's fine, but I'm sure Alfred Hitchcock had his detractors too.

that and so much more. there were a lot of characters who served literally no purpose in the movie. It was riddled with ADD moments where suspense was built up for a half of a second and then immediately dispersed. It was just awkward yes... your comment too
