I agree.MrPopo wrote:Let's cut down on the personal attacks.
And for the person who asked how it was, it is well worth $45. All of the "bells and whistles" are nothing compared to the game itself. The only thing missing is a DC (which the developers have for you to download for free) and a colored version of the manual. The box is not that impressive, but the game is.
The game has a Lunar vibe and is quite fun. It reminds me of a SNES style RPG more than one on the Genesis. It's got all of the quirkiness, cheese, and grinding of the 90's games. I am enjoying the hell out of it and the game itself is worth the money.
Oh, and for those waiting for a third print or wondering if the second print will be a smaller quantity than the first - the developers on their site said that they will continue to produce the second run style. They don't feel that those who spent extra money on the posterity edition and got their name in the manual should have a product that will be worth less than the reprints. So they do care about their customers.

I'm still hung on DSh's post:

Very hilarious. And the best reason for me not to care about this game. If I had a CDX or the like, I'd probably have the urge to splurge US$400 to buy the artbook-edition from eBay. As it stands, I respect those who still hung onto their SegaCD consoles (especially if their originals still work).Phades wrote:Better than this.

Hi,
I'm a developer of this game. I did maps, NPC script, items, attacks/magic, proof-reading, testing and many other things.
I'd like to thank everyone who has supported us. I hope everyone who has received their copies thought the wait was worth it, and if you are still waiting - please expect something extraordinary arriving to you soon.
You may ask why we initially sold the game for $35 and now are selling a "cut down" version for $45. When we started pre-orders, the aim was to sell it at cost. But as development continued, a lot of financial setbacks happened and when the game was released, we had big debts. People paid $35, but also often over 2 years of wait. Now we are selling a $45 version without the CD. Why not the CD? We cannot afford producing it again, or we will lose money on it. And why is the price higher? We must pay off the debts we gained during development. Is this unfair to the people who "missed the boat"? Maybe. But if you want any more games from us, it is a must. And if the team worked for money (only some stuff was done by paid professionals, most of the hard work was done voluntarily, including mine), the game would have been at least twice as expensive. Looking at the bright side, the clamshell case may be more popular than our cardboard box (which I was very sceptic towards at first, but now really low). Our clamshell case was a big investment for future games, so it wasn't cheap. And still, the game is still the same great game, which is what matters most. You can download and burn the CD yourself.
Many sacrifices had to be made, but nothing was ever done to piss customers off or to fool anyone. We just wanted to make a great game for all of you to enjoy and we want to continue doing so in the future. A few months ago, you could have asked for a refund of your $35 because of the looooong wait, and now you can simply dismiss the new version for being cut-down and more expensive. Both situations weren't/aren't optimal, but it just had to be this way when you are making a new Mega Drive game in 2010 for the first time. If you don't like it, well, then there are other games you can buy and enjoy. We have learnt many lessons for our next game - never give away something for free again and never start pre-orders so long before completion.
Thank you for reading this and for your support. We really appreciate it and our game would never had been released without it.

Re: Pier Solar
Okay man, but I just wish costs didn't have to be cut all around with the labels and manual and CD all getting slimmed down. :/ Oh well, I guess I'm fine with it now, but it takes away seeing everyone getting their first run copies, waiting to order mine and then learning about how different it was. Oh well, I have heard the game its self is pretty good though, so congrats.

Bradtemple87: Not exactly nailed yet, but it should be shortly after first reprint run ships, which is next week.

I appreciate that update. I have your site bookmarked and have been checking a few times a week for what seems like forever now.Zebbe wrote:Thanks.3GenGames wrote:Okay man, but I just wish costs didn't have to be cut all around with the labels and manual and CD all getting slimmed down. :/ Oh well, I guess I'm fine with it now, but it takes away seeing everyone getting their first run copies, waiting to order mine and then learning about how different it was. First off, welcome to our forums Zebbe. I am also a member of yours (SBooger).Zebbe wrote: Many sacrifices had to be made, but nothing was ever done to piss customers off or to fool anyone. Anyway, I want to let you know how much I appreciate the game and all the work that was put into it. It was this website (RacketBoy) that I heard of the project years ago when I preordered it.
As to the negativity, I hope you let it wash off your back since those who really appreciate the game bought it and are not those who complain. Those who complain are not the target audience for a "new" SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive game. I think the explanation on your site about not wanting to give the same to those who paid for posterior was a great sign of respect to us customers. I feel that it's a "supply and demand" issue - there is a demand for your game and it's more cost effective to create this new supply even though its different. You can also count me in one who would have preferred a clamshell case but I will never complain because I got what I really wanted - an awesome game.
Again thanks and welcome to our site. Please keep us updated on future projects.

Thank you. I like this site and saw an RPG article where our game was mentioned. I've been on many forums answering questions and now I finally found myself here.SpaceBooger wrote: First off, welcome to our forums Zebbe. I am also a member of yours (SBooger).

Thanks again. Whatever we would have done, people would have complained. Let's say we made another run exactly like the first one, for the same price. People who pre-ordered over two years ago would have felt cheated, since they had their money on our account for such a long time for no reason (they could have waited safely like many reprint-buyers have done). Then, if we sold it at the same price, we would have lost even more money. It was a lose-lose situation for everyone involved it seems, but we did our best in securing quality and offering something special to all - a great game.As to the negativity, I hope you let it wash off your back since those who really appreciate the game bought it and are not those who complain. You're welcome again. We'll keep you updated. A guy called David from this forum offered to do a podcast interview with us, so that's a good start I hopeAgain thanks and welcome to our site. Please keep us updated on future projects.
