2017 Gaming goals and resolutions

2. Get a RetroUSB AVS + Everdrive. I'm holding off on this until I know more about the Retroblox.

I fully understand waiting and seeing what the Retroblox can do, but the AVS is one of the best pieces of 3rd party hardware ever created. It is the cause for me to rethink collecting NES games.

I know! It was so hard for me to resist preordering one. I decided to save my money for a Switch instead. I'm loving my Switch so far even though it is primarily a Breath of the Wild machine at this point. However, my son loves Bomberman and the Snipperclips demo. He asks me to play them with him every day. I'm going to have to shell out for the full version on Snipperclips soon so I don't go crazy. Actually I really want it and I need a better excuse to get it sooner rather than later....

Haven't done this yet, and I don't even know where to start... hmm.

1. Break my addiction to trophies, most likely by buying new games/non PS3/PS4 games faster than I have time to worry about them.

2. BUT... with this, I want to be quicker to admit when a game isn't for me, or I'm no longer having fun with something I originally liked. I'm quite tired of my habit of holding on to things "In case I want it again."

3. Complete any Souls/King's Field game BESIDES Bloodborne. I have yet to do it, and damn it, I can't have my gaming cred slashed like that.

4. Long shot, but to have some kind of emulation box going. I've been mulling and crowing over this for months now, and have yet to do it.

5. Beat MegaMan 1-6.

6. Another long shot... find some gaming friends, who aren't weirdos. I've actually found this to be very hard.

If there's anything I've learned in life, it's that almost everyone is a weirdo in some way. But I totally get what you're saying.

1. Get list of unbeaten games below 800

2. Beat 3 more Tales games

Doin' fairly good on that first one. Through both selling and beating I'm within about twenty five games of bein' under 800.

The second one not so much, mostly because I have like zero time for RPG delving lately. Games that can be beaten in a weekend are much more the order of the day atm.

Also doing pretty well on my defacto goal of just buying less stuff. I'm WAY ahead of last year by this point in regards to that

- Round off my PS3 Collection a bit more
- Get a PS4 for new God of War/Uncharted 4/Final Fantasy XII (yes 12), and others probably
- Get Yooka-Laylee on Steam most likely, beat that
- Play LoZ: Breath of the Wild on Wii U (Switch isnt worth it yet imo)

That's about it, play the rest by ear.

More than likely it'll be Dark Souls 1 or Dark Souls 3. Not to say King's Field isn't possible, I just doubt I'll have a way to play it this year.

MegaMan should be easy since I recently picked up the collection on PS4.

The main goal I have for 2017 is to get under 100 Unfinished Games. I am currently at 101, so I don't think it will be that hard. However, the hard part will be staying under 100 from now on. It would be so easy to just buy a few more and completely ruin it.

General Goal: Get Under 100 Unfinished Games Beat on 01-19-17

And just because, let's add some specific goals for each console:

1. NES = Beat Castlevania 3 Beat on 02-13-17
2. GEN = Beat a Season as Coach in Tecmo Super Bowl
3. SNES = Beat Final Fantasy V
4. N64 = Beat Conker's Bad Fur Day Beat on 03-22-17
5. DC = Beat Skies of Arcadia
6. PS1 = Buy A New Game Bought on 03-21-17
7. PS2 = Beat Xenosaga
8. GCN = Beat Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
9. XBOX = Complete Crimson Skies Completed on 01-25-17

I accomplished two more of my goals this week. Now, some updates on the ones I still need to do.

Genesis - I am planning on doing this over the summer for my yearly Marathon game.

Super Nintendo - I am going to start playing this now that I beat Conker's Bad Fur Day.

DreamCast - This could be difficult. I have to finish Metropolis Street Racer and then start and beat Sonic Adventure beforehand. I am hoping to start it over the summer. Hopefully, I will beat it by the end of the year.

Playstation 2 - I am about halfway through the game. I am thinking I could beat it before Summer.

GameCube - It is my next game after Pikmin. I have heard the game is incredibly long though, but I think I can do it.
