The problem with the older D-pad is that sometimes it will register a wrong direction. I have an older wireless 360 pad that I use for Steam and stuff on the PC and occasionally it will just register a wrong direction. I'll push right and it decides to do down or something dumb. It makes no sense.

Re: Xbox 360 CONTROLLER Collecting
Fun look at some of the variants.

OutRun 2 review (Underrated game)
My take on a game that alot of people are picky about and I feel doesn't quite get the respect it deserves. Most people only recommend outrun 2006, but the original is still great... maybe comparable to Street Fighter 2 vs Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Well check it out and let me know what you think.

Re: Xbox 360 CONTROLLER Collecting
I get this a lot in dark souls. I'll swap out weapons (right on the d-pad), and it will at the same time change my consumable item (down on the d-pad) so either I catch on and waste time rotating back to my flask or whatever I have active, or stupid me just burned a humanity for no reason.Hobie-wan wrote:Fun look at some of the variants.

TurboGrafx-16 Hidden Gems (Video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL26qAQobp0 <--YouTube
The TurboGrafx-16 or PC Engine in Japan was an amazing, powerful & fun gaming console that never quite found mainstream success in most of the world. However, game collectors know there are some great Hidden Gems on the system and Carlos is here to offer some suggestions.
What games should be in Part 2?

Ninja Spirit actually came out for GB as well as lots of computers back in the day.

The Turbo Booster only added AV out. The Turbo Booster Plus gave you save memory for certain games.
Hard to say what to suggest as the system sold poorly here, they're all sort of 'hidden' to most people. I think unless someone only knew a kid that had one with 2 or 3 games back in the day, if the system interests you it's likely that one has done some research already. Blazing Lazers is awesome and relatively easy to find, but I think most know about it already.

http://youtu.be/X-HZToIRXZA <--YouTube
Do you want to be a hero? The Quest for Glory series by Sierra was a classic adventure/role-playing series that fans world wide remember fondly. TheBigJB (ex-Sierra employee) talks about all five games in the series and which ones are his favorite.
Anybody else remember this Sierra series fondly?

Re: Quest for Glory Series Retrospective
I am very very happy about the retrospective of Quest for Glory. It is a shame that you guys didn't talk about the combat system and how that had changed over time as I feel that was a major defining factor of the series.
As for my favorite, that is a really difficult question to answer. I would probably say that Quest for Glory 4, bugs aside, was my favorite. There seemed to be a lot of stuff going on and each class had its very defined roles that stood out. I also really enjoyed the world they crafted, giving love to Cthulu. Also, every character is incredibly memorable in a way that far surpassed any of the other characters in the series. Sure there are characters like Rakeesh and the Chief Thief from QFG1, but with QFG4 everyone stood out. They each had a story and each had a sidequest you could complete to help them.
This was the one series that really meshed the Adventure genre with the action RPG seamlessly. Many classic adventure games can be looked back nostalgically, but never stand the test of time. Quest For Glory to this day is still fantastic in every way, even with the text parser.

I really do feel like gamers forget how amazing the QfG series was at the time. The mix of RPG and Adventure was rarely combined so well...
