Every weapon type and specific weapon has a different targeting arc that will show a target on any enemy in its range. Unfortunately there's nothing in-game that tells you or shows you what it looks like. You just need to get used to it.

Haha, you should see some of the homebrew quests, or even some of the official Max Attack quests.

They're still working on the belated "Christmas Event" which may or may not be up this month. If it does come on it includes the homebrew Christmas Fiasco quests which are rather crazy enemy rushes.

I'm on as a FOnewm named Reginald if anyone else needs a hand. It'll probably be in a purely support role though.

Also if I may make a quick suggestion, maybe we should pick a lobby to meet in? Most of the lobbies out side of 1 and 2 and sometimes 13 are empty. (Schtserv Lobby 13 is the casino, check it out for some Casino Night Zone music.)

After finally getting everything set up, twatting around with the controls a little longer and eventually giving up on them and just tolerating the keyboard, I managed to play a few hours of this game and it's pretty enjoyable, if a little repetitive.

I've gone a Fonuwearl character, or for us normal people: a newman (read: elf) mage girl. She seems pretty decent in a group, but I can imagine it being tough to get by in single player as her. She hits fairly hard, although it's hard to notice right now - because I'm half the level of everyone I'm playing with my powerful magic means I can only just keep up with everyone elses attack damage, and they dont have to burn through magic restoring items for the privelege XD.

Played online with Gunstar Green who helpfully distracted and debuffed all the enemies as I cleared out my first missions. With him being level 93 and me being level 1, it worked out OK. The Violent By Design and Space Booger joined, and after Gunstar left his girlfriend joined the group, so we managed to get some decent 4 player games going.

Finished missions 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 and 2-1. Now at level 8 or 9.

It's been fun seeing the game through the perspective of people with little or no experience with it since it's been so long since I've been in that boat.

For anyone else just starting I suggest trying out one player mode (you can set it to that when creating the game on schtserv) and trying to play some of the side quests. Most give you NPC helpers and they're designed with single play in mind. The first mission or two also serve as a bit of a tutorial.

You also get more of the story and get to meet some of the game's characters if you're into that.

Had a pretty good playthrough today. Blizzard gave me a nice excuse to stay and grind a bit. Caught up to Booger in level, and found myself a pretty sweet gun.

Gunstar and his gf were real helpful explaining some of the mechanics of the game. Hell, I didn't even know what my damn Mag did ~_~.

Finally got to see the Dragon today when I played with Alien Jesus.

Might do a quest way later, if not I'll be on tomorrow.

My favorite thing that happened was this gem of a quote:
AlienJ: These sharks are weak to fire.
VBD: That is historically inaccurate.
