wait how do you play PSO on a PC in the US? Is that what Blue Burst is?
And FFXI and FFXIV give you 30 days free.

yes Blue Burst has private servers.
Anyway I adore PSO and root for it. Just bought the DS version actually.
But if folks want a FF MMO and it really does have a free month, I would not oppose.

So we're back to RPG again.noiseredux wrote:If we were gonna play a FF game, I'd opt for FF Tactics or a mainline game.
Castle of the Winds!!!!!!!!!
Not really cool with MMO. I'd probably sit that month out.

PSO would be awesome, but I have no clue how to play it online.
I think I'm gonna throw in a soft vote for it, especially if we're having an MMO month. Always wanted to play it online.

Re: Together Retro 2014 Nominations & Discussion Thread
I think PSO has the potential to do something that no other TR game has - sustain people playing for more than a month.
I think if we create a detailed enough post and people all try the game, there will be a bunch of people still playing it a month or two down the road. The earlier we play it in the year the better.
I would love to see a TR game sustain popularity past it's dedicated month.
Consider this my vote for PSO to be part of TR next year.

Re: Together Retro 2014 Nominations & Discussion Thread
Update:
Consider my vote added for FFXI if there is a 30day trial (not 14 though, too new).
Also gave a + 1 to Rez.
I am massively against Space Invaders (for a whole month? yuck!), The two crappy fighting games (I play Together Retro to enjoy GOOD games), MegaMan (we've probably never played it because everyones already played them before) andany MAME exclusive game (some people don't like to emulate).
I have an issue with the charity auction idea and the best contributor idea because of timing - it doesnt give us a lot of time to get the game, especially if the person chooses a rare or expensive game.
I think maybe going with one or the other, and making it much later in the year to give us time would be OK though.

Yup, PSO is an easy game to get sucked into for months. I'd say a game like that would be great for January. Those of us who live in places that get snow will surely enjoy having this game to stay inside with.SpaceBooger wrote:I think PSO has the potential to do something that no other TR game has - sustain people playing for more than a month.

You honestly have no idea dude. PSO is not even kind of like Phantasy Star.dsheinem wrote:I have zero interest in PSO. It'd be something if I nominate the MMO idea then don't play because...yuck Phantasy Star...
Thanks again man!alienjesus wrote:Update:
IF there is a 30 day trial, again, I'd be ok with this over PSO just based on the fact I've never played FFXI.Consider my vote added for FFXI if there is a 30day trial (not 14 though, too new).
I didn't want to be the one that said it, but yeah. Space Invaders kind of sucks if you have to play it for more than 20 mins.I am massively against Space Invaders (for a whole month? yuck!),
PS, "two crappy fighting games"? Eternal Champions isn't crappy.
Re: Together Retro 2014 Nominations & Discussion Thread
That's my issue with it as well. I'd rather see the whole year taken care of so that we have time and even the money to source the games successfully. I think others would agree if we didn't have to dash for games at the last minute.alienjesus wrote:I have an issue with the charity auction idea and the best contributor idea because of timing - it doesnt give us a lot of time to get the game, especially if the person chooses a rare or expensive game.
I thought EC was well received in the video game publications of the time. It didn't look too bad. I kinda like the idea of having April as a "good/bad" double bill month. It expands on the bad game idea mentioned earlier. Like we would take a genre, find a good example of that game, and find an infamously bad example of a game in the same genre. Of course, it would only probably work in a genre that might not take a long time to play, such as fighting games.noiseredux wrote:PS, "two crappy fighting games"? Eternal Champions isn't crappy.
