To me, If you can't provide the soon to be child with a proper life, then why put he/she through that? I understand most religions are against it and If that's one of your reasons then I fully acknowledge and respect that. That goes for special needs children too. If you know early enough that the child if going to be disabled and is going to have a plethora of problems in his/her life, then why put them through that?I believe its a bit different seeing as sex creates life. Its well known that condoms aren't 100% effective, and not nearly as many girls use birth control as one might think. Knowing both of these, one should know that there is the possibility of a baby. That, and I don't believe you can have sex on accident. The only exception to my beliefs is rape, as one of the two in the situation doesn't have any control.
Adoption or some such for your children can be considered if you can't take care of them. But then again, there's a bunch of kids that should be adopted already, so it just increases the chances of things being bad for your children.

Well, is that child not to be allowed life? We should just deny them life because their life might not be the best? With that argument, we might as well kill all the poor, a decent portion of the middle class, and anyone who might have special needs or any other form of disability.
I just don't see denying life like that. I won't even bring religious reasons into it.

It's not like that. I'm saying that If you full consciously know that you cannot and will not be able to provide a decent life for this human then that is a good option. Let's say you (implying average American) are lucky enough to know early enough that your soon to be child is going to have severe disabilities that over the course of his life would cause him pain, suffering not to mention your own pain and suffering seeing your own going through that. As well as cost in the 5 to 6 digit range a year to provide all the necessity's he/she would need. Considering that the Average American family makes $60,000 (ball parking), that would make a major finical troubles. Now again, let's say you were lucky enough to know this early on because many people aren't that lucky. Would you still want to keep the kid?Forlorn Drifter wrote:Well, is that child not to be allowed life? We should just deny them life because their life might not be the best? Yes, because that would be my child and I would do whatever it takes to give them the best I can. It would be selfish to say that I couldn't give them the care they need, as I've seen people with much less than me take extremely good care of children with special needs. If they can do it, there is absolutely no reason I couldn't.
I just don't really see a good argument for abortion outside of rape, or if it might kill the mother.

I'm gonna offer that maybe this isn't the best topic thread for this particular discussion...
I didn't wear uniforms in high school, but I did have a dress code. Slacks, dress shirt and shoes, and a tie.
