Sorry if this has already been covered, but I've got a question.
I just bought the VGA Box that Racket has for sale in the store. I then bought a VGA+audio cable from Monoprice.com.
I hooked it all up and I'm getting nothing. The TV just blinks as if it's in sleep mode.
Here are the pieces I'm using for reference. I really hope someone can help me figure it out, because I've waited about 10 years to get this thing going in VGA...
Samsung HDTV LCD
DC VGA Box
Regulation 7 Japanese region Dreamcast
Help????

The cable you bought -- it is supposed to convert VGA to something else?

Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
I just got a Samsung LN46A630, my first HDTV. I tried hooking up my Dreamcast using a Madness Gameware VGA adapter that I've had for years and haven't used in years, but I just get a message that says "Mode not supported." This is with the box set to PC mode. When I switched it to the TV setting, then the Samsung went into a kind of sleep mode like the above poster described.
I was using a VGA cable that my wife brought home from work, but she assured me there was nothing wrong with it. The last time I hooked up the VGA adapter to an old CRT PC monitor I used to have, it worked, so I figured I'd test it on my LCD PC monitor with the current cable I'm using with it. It worked. Figuring it might be the cable itself, I hooked up the VGA adapter to the monitor with the cable my wife brought home. It also worked, but the picture would shift colors to red, pink, magenta and whatever until I shook the box a little and then it would go back to normal. I then hooked up the VGA box with the cable I know to be good, and it did the same thing, so it was the VGA box after all causing the color shift.
Anyway, what I'm getting to is, do you think that the fact that the VGA box is a little wonky with the color could cause the "Mode not supported" error on my TV, or do you suspect that the VGA input on the TV may not be compatible, or something like that? The TV supposedly supports 480p, and it sure as hell works with my Wii hooked up with component cables running at 480p. Maybe it's putting out the wrong hertz, like 50hz instead of 60hz, or something of that nature, causing the TV to reject it?
Oh, if this helps, I also tried hooking up an S-video cable to the VGA box and running the signal to the S-video input on the TV, but the TV didn't even recognize that it was getting a signal whether I had the VGA box set to TV or PC. I'm suspecting it's the box. What do you think?

If the colors are shifting, you can send it back to me for a replacement (email me for details)
But I'm concerned if its not showing up on the TV, but it is on the monitor.

Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
i just ordered a dreamcast vga box and vga to component cable so i can use it on my panasonic lcd (no vga input:( ) on ebay with my 25 dollar ebay gift card from xmas. i cant wait for it to come!

I ordered a VGA converter from Racketboy today. I'll give it a try with the VGA input on my TV and if I still don't have any luck I'll get a VGA-to-component cable and go through the component input. One way or another I'm hooking up my Dreamcast to my TV with something better than S-video!
Any recommendations on a good VGA-to-component cable, just in case I need one?

Is there any way to use the Racketboy VGA box with a CRT TV, like if I got a VGA to Component cable, or does it always display in 480p?

Hi,
I've got a Samsung LN46A550 that will not output the video from the VGA box. I guess it's a refresh rate issue. Anyone else seeing the same problem ?
I was thinking about trying a vga to component converter like this one :
Has anyone used one of these or have any other suggestions ?
