Considering it has broken a sales record with each new release for however many years now, I wouldn't call that unpopular.
Here on Racketboy I guess it would be.

Adam Sessler is a moron. He went on Feaux News after the Newtown shootings to try and defend the gaming industry and in the course of the debate, he actually said "Don't call them games because they're not for kids, they're for adults" and explained at great length why he would say that. Anyone with half a brain should see the problem with this.
1. It completely ignores the fact that quite a few games come out every year aimed at kids and families, implying that he thinks gaming should be reserved for adult males exclusively.
and
2. He gave proponents of censorship a GIANT piece of ammunition and even if they ignore the rest of what he said, they will replay that clip ad nauseum whenever it suits their purposes to do so.
If we need a representative for the media to interview, we can do a lot better than him.

Also, while most emulators are more than adequate these days, most of them still aren't quite 100% accurate.
That is quite true, but they are making good progress. The Sega CD is now 100% accurate on the Wii!
While I also have no interest in hacks, I do have a huge interest in fan translations, and I would hate having to pay $50-$60 per cart to play these roms on a real system.
Its also a lot easier to hook up 4 controllers to a Wii than it is to most retro consoles.
To be honest though, most of the advantages I like aren't unattainable on the real hardware, just cheaper/more convenient.

Oooh, this thread is fun.
-- I prefer the hand-held experience of Game Boy games to the Game Boy Player (or any other big screen version, for that matter).
-- I love driving the Mako in Mass Effect.
-- Raphael is my turtle of choice for TMNT beat 'em ups.
-- I don't like anything about Pokémon Black/White, except the streamlined trading process.
-- Although I appreciate Tetris on a conceptual/historical level, I find it very boring.
I also agree with the following:
*I'm paraphrasing here. CCFJR's original post is more thoughtful, but I'm too lazy to go find it.

The actual Super Mario Bros 2 or Doki Doki Panic?
Doki Doki Panic. The enemies, the gameplay, the bizarre world design, and yet how easily Mario fits into everything, makes for a great romp. Many of the most interesting(and my personal favorite) enemy designs in the Mario series spawn directly from this game. I also consider it a surprisingly brave game featuring one of the few platformers which features a playable Princess Toadstool(who could easily be argued to be the superior character of the group), as well as a transvestite character, although the game does belittle Birdo in his description.

This is a very sharp comment, I'm impressed.
Thanks. In FPS, the shotgun is almost always my firearm of choice or my main backup. A shotgun is reliable, capable of producing massive damage at close ranges(or modified to shoot farther), and can be utilized in a variety of styles and with varying ammunition choices. It's an incredibly versatile firearm. If a developer has not taken the time to really study how a shotgun can be used or has implemented them poorly, then I instantly become wary of their firearms designs. And considering that in an FPS, a firearm is your main means of interacting with the world, I then become wary of the game itself.

Any particular reasons? They strike me as having very different priorities.
They do, but I prefer the inherent grittiness of TFC's design, its enhanced mobility options, the ability for nearly all classes to be played both offensively and defensively as both capable fighters and support to enable players to play almost any way they way, the versatility of all classes, the uses for grenades, the variety of game types ranging from capture the flag to platforming and physics competitions, the frantic explosions, gunfire, and hallucinations at wicked speeds, and AIDS. I play medic, and I want my AIDS-spewing shotgun-toting conc-jumping super soldier in a bicycle helmet.

Well he should, the game is a Miyamoto creation after all.
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
Sure, but Mario wouldn't fit into The Legend of Zelda quite as well.
Oh, and this is not gaming related, but I hate when people call Fox News "Feaux News." Especially if they then think that MSNBC and CNN provide balanced and accurate news services without biased commentary.

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I prefer dubbing to subs, even if the dubbing is bad.
I just feel like understandable dialog adds another layer to the character, and I vividly recall characters that I have heard speak in a language I understand, whereas I mostly recall the looks/abilities of a character that I have only heard speak japanese/not speak at all. When I think back to a character like Vanille from FF13, it feels like recalling a person, as I have so many personality quirks to pull from, whereas when I think of... whoever the main character in Record of Agarest War is, I just recall the basics: His moves, his clothes. I can't even remember his name.

True on the Zelda front.
MSNBC to me always has seemed pretty upfront about their viewpoint and doesn't pretend to be unbiased.
