I love my Sega Master System. There's something about it that I really like - it feels 8-bit, but just in a very different way than the NES. I can't really describe it!

This past weekend, I played a good amount of Time Soldiers with Key-Glyph. That game is a lot of fun, while also being awkward to control. Apparently the arcade version would let you move and shoot in different directions and without that, the game becomes pretty dang tough. Still, the game didn't feel too unfair and I'm sure that with more time, we could have beaten it.

I also picked up After Burner for about $3. What a great game that is! My first thought while playing it was that it's the kind of game that is probably unbeatable but is still a lot of fun to just sit down and play (like Space Harrier). But now just a few days later, I can get 2/3 of the way through the game so I'm feeling like I just might end up beating it!
There's apparently a cheat for the game in which you press the pause button 100 times on the title screen to have unlimited continues. IT HASN'T WORKED FOR ME. T_T It's tough to specifically count those button presses with just a limited amount of time so I'm not sure it I'm just messing up or if there was a revision to the game without it or WHAT.
But I'm doing well enough to think I may beat it without cheating regardless! :D

I never played the Sega Master System. But I'm looking to get all the major Sega home consoles in the near future.

My cousin had the Game Gear. From what I read, was very similar to the SMS. I used to love playing X-Men and some game where you were a dog lookong character (forgot the name). Good times.

I had that goal, too. All I needed was a Sega 32X. Then my Sega CD stopped reading discs, and a lens cleaning did nothing. And I haven't found a working one around here since.

Quartet is a cool game.

Though the SMS version only allows for two players.

They should have renamed it Duo.

It was called Double Target in Japan though so at least SoJ had the right idea.

Why is the SG-1000 blocked from search results? Anyway, what's the best way to play SG-1000 games on an American Master System? Or is there a way? I'm hoping to avoid yet another console.

I've already decided that I need a Pico. The SG-1000 can't be far behind...

Sonic Blast is trash. Sonic 3D Blast, however, is enjoyable, despite it not being up to par with the other Genesis Sonic titles.

I have a Pico and a few story-ware cartridges. This is one of my only systems I don't keep hooked up. I can't find a single game on the system that appeals to an adult. Of course, it's not meant to appeal to us. I understand that the hardware is based on Genesis hardware, but the games are far inferior. Even a child would grow tired of this edutainment if he/she had any other console to play.

I'm going to politely disagree with you. Sonic Blast is manic fun (albeit too easy), but Sonic 3D Blast always disappointed me. I see Sonic 3D blast as the moment Sonic started his awkward 3D phase that he's only recently emerging from.
