Always nice to see another SX-eraaron wrote:hello!
i'm aaron, i'm 22, i live in west lafayette, indiana, a little nxnw of indianapolis. i manage a carwash by day. i'm the proud parent of a beautiful 14 month old boy. i play guitar and love all types of music, but i tend to listen to more technical-type stuff, be it metal/jazz/rock or whatever. i'm kind of a music snob.
with regard to gaming, i currently i own an xbox, a ds, and a sega saturn. my tastes are pretty old school, i like 2D platformers, racing games, pretty much all shooters (shmups, fps, run 'n gun, on-rails), and oddly enough, golf games of any variety. favorite games of all time include gunstar heroes, super mario world, sonic & knuckles, ikaruga, halo, and project gotham racing 2, to name a few.
i'm here because i remember racket from the segaxtreme forums and while i don't frequent that site much anymore, i really like this one and the way he's got it set up.
so, that's me i guess.

Hi! Another former SX-er from long ago (circa 2001-2003, I think, till the big drama shook everything up.)
I've been reading the blog for a while now, and the boards here look pretty cool, so I thought I'd join up.
I tend to prefer older games, especially Saturn, but I play DC, PS1/2, and DS, as well as all manner of 8-16 bit games via emulators.
I don't game as much as I'd like anymore, but I keep up thanks to podcasts, and will be playing retro games much more soon as I plan to record my first podcast, a retro game review show, a week from Friday with a friend in another state. After I check the rules a little more closely to ensure I'm not even remotely spamming, I'll probably be asking a couple of opinion questions of whoever feels like answering regarding show content, game selection, and rating criteria of old games, but that's a discussion for another thread, if at all.
BTW, I'm also a member of UG, which has to be one of my all-time favorite sites. Right up there with MySpleen.

Audio only, probably with eventually a sort of slideshow style youtube counterpart.
I know, it's been done, but it's primarily going to be reviews and discussion. The plan is to pick 3 games at random, then vote on them to decide which one we actually review, then play the crap out of it and do a thorough, legitimate review based on how well it holds up today, as well as graphics, sound, and innovation for the game's time. One exhaustive review per episode, with lots of biased opinion and discussion.
We picked our game for the first episode last night and got lucky to have a good one, Batman: Return of the Joker on NES. We'll get some crap games too, though, because we don't won't to be blinded by nostalgia, hence the 3 random games from which we pick. The other host and I voted on it, but once we have some listeners we'll have them do the voting based on our 3 random picks.

I believe I was cpl.carrot. Hard to be sure, I was pretty new to the net a few different handles then. That's the one I remember right now.
We should be recording the audio for the podcast on Friday, and we're kicking around the idea of doing it as video as well, probably just gameplay video dumped through emulators. When the show goes up, hopefully in the next couple weeks, I'll make sure to post a link. Thanks for the interest!

I was toying around with the idea of a podcast/videocast myself, but I knew I wouldn't have time to do it myself.jimmywicker wrote:I believe I was cpl.carrot. Hard to be sure, I was pretty new to the net a few different handles then. That's the one I remember right now.

Would you be interested in some help from me?
Also, now that I have my deluxe hosting plan I have an unbelievable amount of storage space and bandwidth, so if you need some hosting, let me know.
