List of glitches from the arcade version that Tougeki had to ban because they break the game. Hope SNK can clean this stuff up before console or in an update. Considering recent releases that hope is not great.

1. Hwa Jai's levitation
This bug, which can be activated while doing Hwa Jai's special move, causes the character the fly off the screen. According to Tougeki, the player that triggers this bug will be disqualified.

2. Vice's "Splash" Special Move Fisticuffs Lock
If the player uses Vice's "Splash" move and then begins trading ground attacks with their opponent, the opponent's character will get stuck in stun animation. The match will end only when time runs out. Tougeki states that the player playing as Vice will be disqualified.

3. Vice's "Overkill" Special Move Renders Certain Characters Unplayable
The combination of using the "Overkill" and a throw move to recovering character, causes these characters to become unplayable: Iori, Vice, Shen, Mature, Terry, Andy, Takuma, Ash, Mai and Maxima. Once again, the player playing as Vice, Tougeki notes, will be disqualified.

4. Ralf Jones' Neo Max Move Bug
Having Ralf use his Neo Max move to trade hits with any character in mid-air cause the opponent to get stuck floating. Players using Ralf will not be disqualified for this, Tougeki states, but will be required to bring their opponent back by using a weak jump attack. Then the match can resume.

Everybody seems to be making a huge deal out of this. Every fighting game has glitches.

Regardless of whether the glitches get fixed or now (and I'm sure they will get fixed), this is still one of the only games I'm looking forward to. To all the people who say they aren't going to buy this game because of a few glitches: You weren't going to buy the game anyway because it doesn't have Kazuya or Chun Li as playable characters.

Yeah, I'm really disappointed that Kotaku actually reported on this. Smash Brothers requires mountains of restrictions to be tournament worthy but you never see that highlighted. Way to kick the underdog... Not even news worthy. SNK needs this game to sell well and using journalistic bullying to stretch for a story. Maybe I'll boycott them for awhile. Like that would do any good. :(

Well, in one case you have some hilariously game-breaking glitches. In the other you have randomness that pisses off tournament players (and I say deal with it).

Has a console release date been announced or hinted at?

Nope, not yet.

Most likely, they're going to try to squeeze as much money out of the arcade release as they can before they do the console version.

They'll also likely use this as an opportunity to find and fix all the problems they can before they do another console release. After all, they kinda blew their entire budget on this game - if this doesn't end up being a huge success, they'll probably have to stick to making nothing but more Doki Doki Majo Shinpan and Days of Memories for the next 5 years.

I was told by someone at uni that the Arcade in the city had this cab, I went in (even to the non retro arcade which is full of DDR and such) and neither had it, I was disappointed, what a lying sack of shit.

Oh well I still put in a couple dollars for KOF 98, and yes I lost both times.

According to the guys at SRK, they have KOF XIII at Arcade UFO. I probably will hold off on visiting until the CTX Racketboy members' meet.
