It was a good movie and a good story otherwise, I did mention that in my original post. I just really hate that his arch-nemesis of all characters was crapped on.

Let's talk about the way that the I Robot movie shits all over Isaac's grave shall we?![]()
Note I have read the book, which is a collection of short stories, but not seen the movie because it has so little to do with it I have no desire to see it.
*sigh* I know I'm gonna get crapped on for this... but here goes.
Isaac Asimov was a terrible writer. He was like Tolkien. They created grand universe(s) like Lord of the Rings, or the Empire and Robot universes... but holy crap they were awful tellers of stories. It's a freakin' chore to read through their books. If you tell me you never rolled your eyes or groaned at all of those god damned hobbit songs or the lame Tom Bombadil chapters in Rings, I'll call you a liar.
I, Robot is, yes - a collection of short stories about different robots, their sentience and they are all slightly connected. The film I, ROBOT has more in common with the Outer Limits episode of the same name (both original and 90s revamped versions) than the novel. I read the book and I'm sorry, but I was bored to tears like I was bored to tears in the Foundation series (GASP! - did he just say Foundation was boring!?)
Asimov wrote ONE good story. And it was a short story called The Immortal Bard. (edit: two good short stories, The Last Question.) All of his other stuff, especially the short story Nightfall, was extremely boring. I'm actually glad the I, ROBOT film went the more action oriented way than follow the book. It would have been several disjointed, yet slightly related short films if it had followed the book and it would have been BORING. 'mov wrote The Positronic Man with someone else and it was mildly entertaining but I think I only liked it because I happen to really like the movie BICENTENNIAL MAN, which is based off of The Positronic Man.
For sci-fi writing quality, I much prefer the likes of Clarke, Card (yes hes a homo-hating loony but he writes good sci-fi), Bova and the like.

I neither groaned nor rolled my eyes. But I'd be lying if I said that they didn't confuse me as I they didn't, and still don't, see their purpose.
Though, in Tolkien's defense, didn't he state at one point that if he had to do it over again he would have skipped over everything related to Tom Bombadil or something along those lines? I could have sworn I read something about that at some point.

Arthur C. Clarke is fantastic. If you like his style of writing, I'd suggest checking out Stephen Baxter's stuff. Very similar, and very interesting reads.

CLOUD ATLAS
It was... interesting? I was interested in what was happening, but it was a little disjointed. (I guess thats my word of the day)
It kind of felt like THE FOUNTAIN, which I enjoyed but it was different, clearly. I think the only time period I was really interested in was the one in the far future. I haven't read the novel, but I've got it on my kindle so I've been meaning to get to it. I liked Hanks' work in it, but I thought it just didn't look right, the way they made non-Asian people look Asian. I don't mean that from a racial point of view, but rather it just wasn't convincing.
And making that cute-as-a-button Korean Doona Bae look 'white' was off putting. Again, not from a whitewashing/yellowfacing point of view, it just wasn't all that convincing. I want to watch it again though. The first time I started watching it, I was interrupted about halfway through. That was about a month ago so I decided to just restart it, and I noticed a few things I hadn't noticed in my previous attempt. Maybe if I watch it a 2.5th time, I'll catch even more.
I wouldn't say I didn't like the film, but I also wouldn't say it was a great watch.

Watched Olympus has Fallen today. It was so-so. Thought the action was okay although very cramped due to the small spaces. The story was nothing to write home about either and the events were way to easy to predict thanks to their telegraphing every move they made.
Overall it's a pretty basic shoot em up that might be worth a rental if you haven't seen it yet.

Disappointing wasn't it?
ROBOCOP
You just can't top it. Frigging perfect for what it is.

I'll take solace in the fact that you are completely wrong and that the vast majority of both critical and popular audiences disagree with this base claim and the ones you made to "support" it.

There is a commercial for Twizzlers, where the candy is the foundation for the new Superman suit.
Looks like we all got the "basketball costume" reference wrong. Spidey and Supes suits do resemble a hodgepodge of Twizzlers.
