Such examples are easily come by, even in the works of the authors we are often told to emulate.
I know what you're feeling, Luke. I was 15 and ardently anti-"literal-abuse", too. But sooner or later we all have to read a book.

All I got out of your post was that you were over fifteen years of age before you read a book and that smart people sometimes make dumb mistakes.
