Another pet peeve is when people pronounce mischievous as:

Miss chee vee us

Never heard it pronounced that way before I moved to the South.

The 4 syllable one is the first example on dictionary.com if you go listen. Your way is listed as 'non-standard'. :P

Technically yes, but for that word I'd argue that the spelling has not caught up to the pronunciation.
