I finished the Broken Steel content for Fallout 3. I appreciate the level cap raise and the extra perks and everything, but my god the quests were boring. And no new weapons for anyone upgrading their guns stat.
Now gonna go play Valkyria Chronicles.
What RPG are you playing right now?

I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

Yeah, I am using a new 42" 1080P Panel, it bizarre because 3D stuff on the original Xbox seems fine, but 2D stuff gives that checkered look.MrPopo wrote:That's actually an issue I had with my old HDTV; running using the same cable on a CRT was fine. Did you upgrade your TV since the last time you played? I ended up getting an XRGB-3 to take care of it (as well as other issues with running old systems on modern TVs).emwearz wrote:I think my S-Video cables might be busted, colors that I imagine should be solid now seem to be slightly checkered.
A XRGB-3 is overtly out of my budget, so I might have to just put up with it I guess.

Right now I'm on Albert Odyssey for the Saturn.
Loved the game up til the very end. Getting lost and random battles every 4 steps sucks.

Yeah, it only effects 2D graphics. Something to do with the upscaler not handling the common 2D effect of using a checkerboard to get a different color then what is supported thanks to the color bleed, but it's much finer than what you're seeing on your TV.emwearz wrote:Yeah, I am using a new 42" 1080P Panel, it bizarre because 3D stuff on the original Xbox seems fine, but 2D stuff gives that checkered look.

Playing Dragon Warrior I on GBC. I just saved Princess Lora (I think that's her name).
I'm really enjoying this version. The NES title is pretty grind-heavy while this one is a lot more approachable.

Hmm, I wonder how the SNES remake differs from these?Opa Opa wrote:Playing Dragon Warrior I on GBC. I just saved Princess Lora (I think that's her name).

I think the balance is similar, and prettier graphics.Xeogred wrote:Hmm, I wonder how the SNES remake differs from these?Opa Opa wrote:Playing Dragon Warrior I on GBC. I just saved Princess Lora (I think that's her name).

Freakin' metal slime! Ran away on me...
All I wanted was some experience points. Is that too much to ask? Sure the metal slime would end up dying but that's being way too selfish. I'm the hero of this story. I deserve experience points!

I finished Phantasy Star, and I might just be all RPG'd out for now, having beaten that, FF3, FF9, Secret of Mana and the debatably ARPG-genred Wonder Boy 2 and 4 and Zelda 2 all recently.
However, Monster Hunter Tri is tempting me. The gameplay might be just about different enough...

About how long is Phantasy Star? I'd take a guess and say maybe ~20 hours like a lot of older RPG's?
