A golden find! Very nice!

I'm not sure, but now you've got me curious. The only version of RRV I've ever owned or played is the Japanese version.
IIRC, there were issues with jaggies in the Japanese version that got smoothed out in the US version.
THANKYOU! The Japanese version was released in March 2000 and the US version was released in November 2000; launch game in both countries.
@ Joe - Thanks for reminding me. I remember reading a review a long time ago. A comparison of PS2 Ridge Racer V jagged edges compared to Dreamcast smooth drawn Ferrari F355 game. I believe what you posted is true, where did you read about the Japanese version being rougher then the US version?
Nice read. Agree, I hate the slip and slide when I let go of the throttle. Weird how the car grips again when I hit the throttle, almost as if it suddenly gained sticky tires. I see you also mentioned the jaggies issue in your article, was that the Japanese version? I think the Dreamcast article I read compared the US versions.

The jaggies are present in both versions, though I do remember hearing they were less pronounced in the US release - not sure if I remember where I read that and I don't have both to compare.
CRT, I don't remember if it was in EGM or a free monthly mini mag I would get at my local mom and pop game store. I'll be looking through some EGMs, but we'll see what I find, if anything. Knowing what that freebie magazine was called would be nice, though. Any help Hobie? It was in full color, about 15 pages long, and was given at the game store next to a Cicis pizza near Copperfield.
PS2 Namco Ridge Racer V - $4.99 Luna Games
I've had my NeGcon for quite a while for PS1 Ridge Racer, finally got around to getting the PS2 game to try it on. Works beautiful, debating to get the Japanese version of PS2 Ridge Racer V.
God I love the NeGcon. Best racing controller ever. Especially for the Wipeout games. A shame I can't use them anymore due to carpal tunnel. Watch out kids.
