Video Game Finds

PS2 Namco Ridge Racer V - $4.99 Luna Games

I've had my NeGcon for quite a while for PS1 Ridge Racer, finally got around to getting the PS2 game to try it on. Works beautiful, debating to get the Japanese version of PS2 Ridge Racer V.

Anyone know of any differences between the US and Japanese release of PS2 Ridge Racer?

Performance MegaRacer - From mjmjr25
Just acquired another Ridge Racer controller. I have been looking for a Namco Jogcon, still need one. Meanwhile I spotted the MegaRacer Jog controller that mjmjr25 offered me for trade. Unlike the Jogcon, the MegaRacer does not have Force Feedback inside, but has a very nice Spinner feature!

Use as an Arcade Spinner: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 52#p353752

PS2 Memory Card - $3.00 Bookoff
I have tons of PS2 memory cards, but I could not pass up on this! Spotted behind the glass with the three dollar tag, the cashier mentioned the memory card had the wrong tag but honored it. 8)

I'm not sure, but now you've got me curious. The only version of RRV I've ever owned or played is the Japanese version.

You and the other person both need analog land lines.
I assume they would also need netlink versions of the games they wanted to play. :?

It would be totally worth it to set this up and marvel at playing games "online" back in the mid 90's from a console!

Wow, quite a bit more than I thought. Check out your local gamestop stores, down in the bay area there were a TON of stores with them in stock. I'll have to keep an eye out for more. Looked like a pretty fun game.

What about something like X Band? Wonder if that works still or if it needed that middle service to work. I got one sealed in box a few weeks back for like $10, would love to play some old school games online.

At it's peak - XBand was miserable, and that was with many staff and dedicated server lines. Matches were in slow-motion and very rarely ended before a disconnect.

The games it supported (SFII, etc), are available on present gen. consoles with significantly better servers. I see those old X-Band modems (new / sealed) now and again - a decent piece of history, but not much value. There are more still factory sealed than were ever actually sold / opened, if memory serves.

It is, but I do have some complaints. The arenas look like they could be from a PS1 game, and the voice acting is the worst I've ever heard, bar none.

Is that a 3DS XL in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? ~ZeroAX

True, but a good effort. It already had two strikes going in to the project, 1. 3rd party hardware with no games actually supporting the service and 2.Way before its time

Look what I found while cleaning out a long neglected corner closet in my dad's house. Been in storage since the late 80's, now mine again.
