So DC recently launched a group of Hanna-Barbera "reimagining" comics. Here are my thoughts on those now that I've read the first issue of each series:
Future Quest - a confusing mashup of a bunch of old action shows. Ever wanted to see Space Ghost interact with Johnny Quest? And some art by Steve Rude randomly in the middle? I guess this will satisfy. But it was a mess and I didn't like it. Stopped after one issue.
Scooby Apocalypse - a gritty, modernized by Jim Lee with Hipster-Shaggy version of Scooby-Doo. Bland. It makes significant changes to the Scooby gang but plays it safe enough for it to be boring. I stopped after the first issue. But I'll look at reviews to see if it gets better.
Wacky Raceland - Wacky Races as a GRITTY GRIMDARK Mad Max/Death Race 2000 style mess. This one is just INSANE and it's crazy enough to be fun. I mean, it's really all-out NUTS and it's FRIGGIN' WACKY RACES OF ALL THINGS. Issue #2 came out this week but I didn't pick it up. I MIGHT try it next week; I mean, GRIMDARK WACKY RACES surely can't be a sustainable concept.
The Flintstones - It's The Flintstones with no special hook. Why was this even part of the series? Well I just finished reading issue #1 and WOW, I HONESTLY LIKED IT. It takes that core Flintstones as "cavemen who represent modern life" concept and make it BITING SATIRE. This isn't an A+ must-read comic by any means, but it took me by surprise and I'm VERY interested in seeing where it goes. Easily the best of the bunch.

Just back from vacation. I read Lost Adventures poolside. It was good. Mostly. It's an interesting book anyway.
Starts with "The Menace Of The Mega-Men" which was meant to be FF #103, but didn't happen as planned. It was then revived and restored in 2008. It's... alright. Then we get two versions of #108 - which was based on this story. The first is "Kirby's Way," which is Jack Kirby's original sketches and layout. Interesting for historical purposes, sure. Then you get the real #108, which I preferred to the restored story. The ending is way cooler.
"World's End" is 'the last FF' comic, and I loved it. "Homecoming" was cool. "If This Be... Anniversary" was just kind of silly.
I also picked up a stack of issues for $10 in the wild:

I read volume 1 of Black Magick (which is getting a TV series) and Monstress in the past few days. I also got Saga volume 6, but didn't read it yet. 
Black Magick is decent, but I can see where it's kind of an easy choice to adapt to other media. There are already a lot of genre shows mixing detective/cop stuff with something else - in this case, witchcraft. The first volume only really just serves as an introduction, and barely gives a glimpse at what the full story might turn out to be.
Given Greg Rucka's other work, it should be solid. Seems like a fair bit of his work is getting a TV or movie adaptation (Lazarus and Queen & Country as well) or already did (Whiteout, with Kate Beckinsale, a few years ago, which wasn't bad).
Monstress is excellent, and the first volume is substantial. To be fair, I can see a lot of (possible) sources for elements of the story, but it comes together in an unique (if dark) way. It's coupled to gorgeous art - similar to the net result of Pretty Deadly.
Seems more in the class of "would be very difficult to adapt" works, like Saga, Low or Autumnlands...well, to live action anyway. They'd make great anime, and I'd say Monstress shows some influence from that, with elements of Parasyte or Naruto to things like Claymore, or perhaps Berzerk.
Either way, looking forward to more installments.

read Watchmen #2 last night. Enjoying it. Though I may alternate between Watchmen issues and some of the various one-shots I picked up recently.
I also pre-ordered the Killing Joke animated film that's coming out tomorrow, and went w/ the special edition BR that comes bundled with a book of The Man Who Laughs.

just a thought: awesome week to be a Batman fan. The Killing Joke animated film comes out tomorrow. So does the first episode of the Telltale game. And Friday is Suicide Squad. I preordered the first two, and am seeing Suicide Squad on Saturday.

this book was assembled just ahead of the release of Suicide Sqaud. Makes sense. Collecting Batman Adventures #12, Batman #613, Gotham City Sirens #7, Suicide Squad #1, Batman #13, Harley Quinn #21, Harley Quinn And The Suicide Squad April Fool’s Special #1, and the origin of Harley from Countdown #10, it was a nice mix of the various versions of Harley. I quite enjoyed it.
