I also blame this thread for my recent listening of Unwound's Leaves Turn Inside You / Repetition. I'm definitely liking them quite a bit as well.
What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpful)

Listening to Stadium Arcadium by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Didn't realize how good it was until a friend of mine told me to listen to it. Charlie has to be my favorite track on the album. I know that they just released a new album, so I'll probably check it out later.

this was always one of my favorite Souls songs. I remember having it on some terrible sounding bootleg tape that had been dubbed way too many times back in high school. But man, I would suffer through the hiss to hear that Bob James sample.OldSchool_Boy wrote:Cab Fare by Souls of Mischief

Heath McNease (the McNasty!) and his 8-bit Mixtape. Good stuff -- hip hop over NES chiptunes with some nice flow and sick rhyme. The album's available now at name-your-own-price:

If you do happen to grab it, tell 'em Nintendo Legend sent ya.

Other than that, some Lynyrd Skynyrd, actually. I'm just a simple kind of man.

Unwound is a favorite of mine... Leaves is the best. Repetition is amazing ("Corpse Pose" rules). But if you don't have New Plastic Ideas, get it fast. That's soooooooo good. Very close to being my favorite album of theirs.mrkola wrote: I also blame this thread for my recent listening of Unwound's Leaves Turn Inside You / Repetition. I honestly never heard of this group until I saw them perform at Rock The Bells. I feel disappointed that I never did but now I'm glad I have.noiseredux wrote:this was always one of my favorite Souls songs. REALLY??? Wow. They're part of Heiroglyphics with Del, etc. Definitely get their first two albums 93 Til Infintiy (which had their only really popular single, "That's When Ya Lost") and No Man's Land, which was much darker, but awesome. I haven't kept up lately, but I'm fairly certain they finally released "Cabfair" in some official capacity on mixtape compilation or something.

Never really cared for West Coast rap and them being from Oakland doesn't help.noiseredux wrote:OldSchool_Boy wrote:

when I was younger, I didn't either -- but Heiro always SOUNDED East Coast. I mean, any Del albums could've passed for East Coast if you didn't know. But I get what yr saying. If you weren't clued in, how were you to know?OldSchool_Boy wrote: Never really cared for West Coast rap
