What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Watched Life of Pi last night. Was a pretty crazy movie but i really enjoyed it. It had a great story with some awesome visuals and the CGI was top notch. At the end they pull a little mind freak on the audience which drove me a little nuts but it was cool at the same time. Overall all i would recommend seeing it if your into a kind of spiritual/survivor style stories or even if you aren't its worth a $1 rental at the redbox.

Think of it as the second half of castaway with Wilson replaced by a very pissed off Bengal tiger.

I saw Hit & Run last night. It was alright, kind of underwhelming in some aspects, but I like that there's some car love in the movie. It kind of feels like it was a big excuse to have several chases. I'm actually OK with that.

I haven't seen Jersey Girl or Red State yet. (I likely will never watch Jersey Girl, to note), but here's how I'd lay them out.

Chasing Amy
Mallrats
Clerks 2
Clerks
Zack and Miri Make a Porno
Dogma
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Cop Out

Watched The Princess Bride last night. Just realized that Inigo Montoya was played by Mandy Patinkin - my mind is blown.

For me it's:

1. Clerks
2. Mallrats
3. Dogma
4. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back
5. Comic Book Men
6. Clerks 2
7. Clerks: The Animated Series
8. Chasing Amy

And I haven't seen the rest.

I had Dogma as my #1 for a long time, but it has aged more poorly than most of his other stuff. Still, it is undoubtedly his most polished and thoughtful film.

I can't see how it's aged poorly. I still love watching it, and I even now have incorporated it into my class (comparing it to Walrus in the Carpenter in Disney's Alice in Wonderland and the original poem and discussing their themes).

I feel like

A) the effects have aged poorly
B) the topics it addresses are now much more commonly addressed across multiple entertainment media.

This was a controversial film at its release, but I don't think it would carry that weight now. That isn't its fault, really, but I feel like it lost an "edge" that it maintained for at least 5-6 years after its release...
