NONONONONONONO DO NOT USE WINDEX

Use isopropyl alcohol. Higher purity is better. 91% is easy enough to find. Doesn't harm the contacts like Windex will. Just wipe it off afterwards so that it doesn't leave a coating.

I swear they only said that because they wanted people to buy their "cartridge cleaners".

Safest is Q-tip (cotton swab) with rubbing alcohol (damp, not dripping) for metal contacts. Windex is better (than alcohol) for plastics, and leaving labels as-is is usually best in general.

For the record, "Cue-tips" are for pool tables and won't safely fit inside the cartridges.

If it helps my windex is generic window cleaner.

Problem is that window cleaner in general has chemicals in it that can wear away metal, including cartridge contacts.

The best to use for cartridges is electrical contact cleaner but that's not always the most available or cheapest thing.

I always figured it was partially that, and partially they figured some genius would just pour rubbing alcohol into the end of the cart and shove it in their system while still wet and kill their system.
