Just bought UMvC3 and Rayman Origins from Best Buy yesterday. Best Buy gives me less of a hassle, but is it really any better to buy from them?

Get results
There is that direct Feedback link to Gamestop that requires a District Manager to contact the customer. Try it, I think it does have impact. Posted in a few of my older Replies in this thread.

Take this for what its worth
I had a discussion with a local independent Retro store owner the other day. He told me that Gamestop Corporate offered to buy out his store a few years ago. He claimed the Corporate rep mentioned that "Gamestop gets all the business, the customers are like SHEEP!" The Retro store owner also vented to me how he has five COD games that did not sell, yet the Gamestop down the street had huge lines. Maybe there are too many Drones that will only shop at one place?

Retro Stores will not survive
Sadly the Retro games in his store are over priced, probably the reason why he has sooooo much good stuff in there. Walls of NES and even a PS2 Final Fantasy Hard Drive accessory and a Gamecube LAN still in the original packages. 99% of the games look to be CIB, but with higher then EBay prices. I really wish his Retro store would survive, I told him to start advertising and get his games listed online. As a local Retro source I love the store, but sorry the prices are way too high! Maybe that is why Gamestop for all their faults usually wins for used games.

My wife got mad last time I was in GameStop because she thought one of the girls working there was hitting on me. She was all like ~*oooohhhh I see you like JRPGs*~ tee hee *touch touch* wink wink. It was odd. Just like this post.

I think the thing is, Inazuma, is that people on here feel that boycotting gamestop (and other companies) is more of a symbolic gesture than a practical one. I know you probably don't agree with that, and that's fine, just consider it from their point of view. They don't see much point in inconveniencing themselves just so people like you will pat them on the back.

We're a niche group after all, most of us hardly contribute to the modern gaming industry as it is.
My problem is people who say one thing and then act in the exact opposite way. Please just pick one!

If you don't like Gamestop, don't give them money. It's that simple. There are plenty of other places to buy games, so it's really not that difficult.

If you have no desire to solve a problem, don't complain about it. This is how you sound to me:

"I'm hungry."
"Eat some food."
"No."
-10 minutes later-
"I'm hungry."

but you told me I had to pick one between "loving video games" or "shopping at GS." Those aren't mutually exclusive things. As I've proven by doing both.

You love video games and you harm video games. That doesn't make sense to me, sorry.

yup. What can I say? I'm a complicated man, Inazuma. At least when the video game industry collapses you'll know who to blame.

Speaking of harming videogames, I wish more developers/publishers had online stores that we could purchase their games directly from.

That works if they offer digital distribution. Shipping out physical copies has a significant cost that small developers can't handle, and large publishers don't want to deal with since they're already in every major store.

But it seems like their profit margins would still be higher? Maybe not with the costs of running said online store. There are just some companies I wouldn't mind giving an extra few dollars. Q Entertainment comes to mind for me personally...
