What the hell is up with the letter "W"?

For one, it's name doesn't even contain the sound it makes. Every other letter in the alphabet makes it's own sound, but not "W". Why "Double-U"? Looks like two friggin' V's to me. Did we really run out of names for letters? Obviously not: X, Y, Z.

W always irks me a little.

...to be honest there aren't many shows I would not recommend that air on PBS.

What ever happened to shows like Mister Rogers...

They're still on PBS. Sesame Street, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Arthur, Curious George, etc.

One of my favorite channels has gone to crap; Food Network. Love or loathe him, Emeril always put on an entertaining show on Emeril Live. There was always something to learn on Good Eats. Ming Tsai made incredible Asian food from ingredients found at every local grocery store. Anthony Bourdain actually cooked. Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Now it's all mindless reality tv crap. They kept Giada for her bewbs, but you don't see much cooking on the food network anymore, and when you do it's usually guy feiri watching someone make a hamburger. No more great recipes or edutainment.

Come to think of it, I haven't watched PBS in forever. I guess that's what happened. Everybody I know has cable/sat and I don't really watch "actual TV" unless I'm over at a family members place. Everything we have now is digital content of stuff that I grew up with. When I try to talk to my brothers about shows like "Bill Nye" they just stare at me blankly wondering why they would want to learn about science at home.

Having 5+ brothers has it's plus sides though. They constantly tell me if I'm doing a great job or a terrible job when teaching things like "How to use the Linux shell". Obviously they enjoy things like comparing processes to Parents with bad habits, children who get sent off to the orphanage or get driven off a cliff, and zombies. This is opposed to "Blah blah blah, something about killing, blah blah blah".

THIS. That Science Chef needs to leave the reality set and go back to his best show, Good Eats.

I hate slugging thru all the other Edutainment channels as well just to find anything I can actually learn from. Discovery, TLC, History, Military, National Geographic, Science and even regular channels are fully of the faked reality shows. Once in a while they come thru with not Reality but REAL Documentaries such as the Universe, Wormhole and the Earth series.

It really annoys me when I hear someone call a Z "zed"

Especially in Stargate Atlantis. They're always after a Zero Point Module to power their stuff. Americans, Russians and other nationalities call them ZPM's for short. Except for one jackass, Rodney McKay who basically has a Maple leaf tattooed on his forehead. HE calls them ZED PMs.

No dude. ZPM. It's Z. ZEE. There's no D in the letter Z. What do you pronounce the alphabet like that?

Aed. Bed. Ced. Ded. Eed. Fed. Ged. Hed. Ied. Jed. Ked. Led?
