Good thing we don't curl up and die every time something swells...

Turns out the dog had some bee stings on her snout. She should be fine in a couple of days.

One of our outside cats had a litter of 5 kittens. SHe had them out by the fence a couple of weeks ago, and then moved them into a box we had put out for her. The box was in our back porch area. What a smart momma.

Well, today it was raining and I kept hearing really loud kitten mewing. I went to check on them and they were gone! all 5 were gone! The momma looked all wet so I knew what was up. She moved them.

I found two of them, one in a small low-to-the-ground landing in a large tree/bush thing we have. And the other on the ground, right near the tree - on the other side of our fence, in the neighbors yard.. Both of them soaked to the bone shivering and screaming for mom. They're still pretty young but I didnt want them to die of exposure/drowning so I grabbed the one I could, and took him back to the box.

At this point I had to go inside and check on my lunch (timer went off, it was in the oven). I was in the house maybe 3 minutes. I went to grab the other kitten and was able to slowly pull him through the chain link fence (theyre still that tiny) and brought him back to... an empty box. DAMMIT!

Either momma cat moved that one I saved, or it crawled off. They're at the age where they're still teeny tiny, but eyes/ears open and starting to walk.

So now, there's just one kitten who has finally calmed down and dried off/warmed up. I dont know where the other one went, and I assume the other 3 that I never found are somewhere I couldn't see.

its heart breaking.

How can you say that? The Muppets was awesome! I've been a muppet fan all my life and Jim Henson is one of my personal heroes, so if it were terrible (like Muppets From Space), I'd be the first to say so, but it was everything I wanted to see in a comeback movie. When I saw the redone Muppet Show intro, I have to admit I got a bit misty eyed. I'd be interested to hear your reasoning as to why you didn't like it.

None of it was true to what I consider the spirit of The Muppets or their humor as evidenced on The Muppet Show, which in Henson's hands offered lots of counter-cultural references and subtle critique of much of our society (mixed with an appreciation of good music, some tender humanity, and lots of smart puns). There's a reason the show was popular with kids and adults back in the day.

Instead I got this:

I am sure that the guy who starred in and was behind much of the film (his name escapes me) really loves the Muppets and is trying to do right by the franchise, but they've not been the same since Henson died and I doubt they will ever have that universal appeal again. I laughed all the time watching The Muppet Show on TV as a kid, I enjoy the earlier films, and I can still go back and have a good laugh at the show. I didn't laugh once during the new film (which I went to see in the theater). I also think that everything Muppet-related from the time that Disney took ownership of the franchise has been pretty abysmal.

EDIT: Here was my review - http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 12#p546312. In short, the film has some nice nostalgia inducing moments, but largely sucks.
