mas wrote:Yesterday found 2 really beat up Wii's one of them can read the disc well it takes a minute but will go to title screen and then disc read error. The other just purely says disc read error and that one when going to wiishop says Wii shop and internet is unavailable, and sends me back to the main screen. The other one I can go to the Wii shop. I never seen that before.
My question is is there any way to save these Wii's? I already tried the "homemade" disc cleaner Thats all over YouTube and I don't have a trip wing screwdriver to open the Wii's. I don't want to kill these systems off. There on life support and I think with a little TLC they can be repaired. Any advice

If you're having a hard time connecting a wii to the wii shop, that indicates a network problem. Maybe a problem with wi-fi. Try using the USB-->Ethernet connector.

If your wii cannot read discs, I would go right ahead and hack that bad boy with the letterbomb exploit. Then you can load the homebrew channel, and I think you can load wii games off of a USB hard drive. Check the "Hacks and Mods" section of this board for more info.

Samson, I am not good at all at hacking or I don't have a laptop or computer to to do that. I would pay someone to do it for me.
And about the WiFi connection, everything in my house works and is online even the Wii that kind of works the other no go. Even I tried accept the user agreement and it won't even let me do that

NO! NO! NO! Never run a disc cleaner in any console, video or audio system
Imagine the laser eye trying to focus moving its sensitive tracking servos around while getting banged around by the disc cleaner brushes or pad. I took my Wii apart to replace the Laser Eye assembly and saw NO DUST at all on the inside.

The only way to properly fix the broken consoles is to invest in the right tools and parts. The Laser Assembly replacement is a very meticulous repair, but the advantage is all the locked to console game saves and DL games are kept intact. An easier route is replace the entire drive, again to not lose all the locked to console data.

There are no saves or no DL games and they were 3.00 a piece. They look like they are on life support lol. So I'm not worried about it too much. If they worked and there was a bunch of downloads then cool if not then ehh.

The cleaner in your case a last desperation measure, though usually any disc cleaner does more harm then good. The Laser Assembly replacements are inexpensive. For around ten bucks each you can make those Wii consoles run as if new again, only a $13.00 (plus the unique tools needed) investment total. This would be a better then buying another used working Wii Gamecube port console that already has mileage on the disc reader.

I don't have the right tools to do that crtgamer. And I would screw things up. Last time I tried to do that I destroyed the ps1 lol

Just soft mod it bro, it is so incredibly easy a child could do it. You simply put a file on your SD card and open it on your wii. Takes like 30 seconds, plenty of guides on youtube.

I don't have a SD card, nor a laptop or computer or a tablet just my phone to do any softmod. I only have the two systems. No cords, controllers, av cords, or power cords. Hell even the covers that cover the GameCube controller ports/memory cards and even the SD card covers are gone.
I'm not good at softmod or anything like that.
Just wanted to see if I can fix and clean the systems maybe get it to work. Can't see a system die if I have a chance to get it going again.
If anyone wants to hook me up and get it working and softmod and I'll pay them for their time and parts then cool. Then I'll buy all the parts/cables. But I think if I wanted to get into the Wii again then I'll just buy one from craigslist

 As much money you spent on all your ups and downs of gaming systems, you really should get a PC. There are inexpensive used PCs everywhere easily under a hundred of even under fifty bucks! A good route to try out emulated versions of games before you invest money into the expensive carts. Especially for your recent great find of the TG16, the additional game cards will be very pricey.

The PC has tons of PC games as well on the cheap at Thrift Stores and the keyboard is so much easier to type posts into the Threads. Oh and there is Mame as well to keep you busy gaming for months on end.

Since the Wii consoles are basically dead, no harm or great expense (once you do get a PC) to learn and try the Soft Mod yourself. Many on here as well as Google can walk you thru the process. This beats shipping the consoles out with risk of damage or loss by shipping.

Awe, mas. Finally, my kindred spirit when it comes to PC and tech mumbo jumbo. God bless you, friend.
