well that sucks. I would have looked into buying another version if I had known ahead of time. Can anyone confirm what all of the ports are (including digital versions if applicable?)

i think it is just on the US/EUR/JPN Taito Legends 2 collection for PS2/Xbox/PC and on the Saturn. Maybe the TL2 Xbox or PC version is better?

MAME it, d00d.

For some reason, I doubt that the xbox and pc versions are any better, since they are based off the same emulation.

If we want to seperate the score tables we can just play both?

Imma just go play Border Down now

ending that sentence with "guy" instead of "guys" totally makes me feel like an elitist bastard

There's an excellent guide on shmups which I'll read in detail when I get the chance - looks like all the "manual" you'd ever need: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=30872

Also, a high scores thread: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=1587

Interesting that the beam is pretty much useless, I would have never guessed that. I'm glad they fixed that in G Darius.

Also, why the hell is this game called Project Gun Frontier 2. It is about as far from Gun Frontier as a Taito shmup could be

I'll be playing on MB Saturn later tonight after getting some Demon's Souls and Super Metroid in. I liked Dimahoo, but it was too much of a Mindfuck for me this month. I was not really worthy for competition.

Thanks for the guide DSH!

dsheinem wrote:I like this one, but I must warn people: DON'T play the PS2 port on Taito Legends. It is slow and jerky, to the extent that it really ruins the game. I played it first for a good hour or so before moving to the MAME cabinet, and the difference in fluidity was extremely noticable - it is like haveing a Gradius ship with no speed powerups vs having one with a couple: the slowness and poor control is very noticable and will certainly impact your ability to dodge and weave.

On my monthly writeup for this game I put the warning out. People on many game forums also reported an issue with the maximum-powered beam that would make it difficult to aim and focus on the PS2 port. You'll see it as soon as Bruno updates the OP.

Very excited for this month.

Edit: Issue was originally reported at release-time for US/EU PS2 ports of TL2.
